Theurgies are some of the most powerful moves within Persona 3 Reload. Their ability to quickly turn the tides of a battle makes them essential for any player to use, and likely something that will be used frequently against the many gatekeepers and tough enemies of Tartarus. Not every Theurgy in Persona 3 Reload is equally powerful, though. Some are just a lot stronger than others, and it’s something worth keeping in mind for players when considering party composition and even what Personas to fuse since some can grant the main character some fairly powerful Theurgies.
D Tier
There’s really only one Theurgy in Persona 3 Reload that feels weak enough to warrant placing in the D tier, and that’s Best Friends. This is the Theurgy Makoto can acquire once the Forneus and Decarabia Personas have been fused (or acquired via Shuffle Time). It allows one player to have a boosted Physical/Magical move that does more than double the damage. That can be pretty powerful, but it’s worth noting that Decarabia can’t be acquired until a point in the game where Koromaru and Yukari already have the Power Howling and Tranquility Theurgies, respectively, making this Theurgy basically irrelevant on arrival.
- Best Friends (Makoto)
C Tier
C-tier Theurgies have a longer shelf life than Best Friends, but not by much. Jack Brothers stops being particularly useful in the late game due to only dealing medium Almighty damage, unless the player just wants to throw a hail mary and hope that high Down chance can get them an all-out attack. Bleeding Fury is only usable for a very short period of time for reasons that won’t be further explored because of spoilers, and Orgia Mode causing Aigis to be uncontrollable for multiple rounds can counteract the pros of that Theurgy as often as not.
- Jack Brothers (Makoto)
- Orgia Mode (Aigis)
- Bleeding Fury (Shinjiro)
B Tier
This tier right in the middle is where nearly all of the standard elemental Theurgies go. The ones that don’t do much outside of “Large amount of X-type damage ignoring resistances.” This includes Makoto’s King and I Theurgy which is effectively a multi-target version of Blizzard Edge and Armageddon, which is a version of Trickster that does more damage at the cost of nearly completely robbing Makoto of all HP/SP and losing its high chance of ailment affliction. They’re all useful and can be utilized, but lack those extra qualities to make them truly essential.
- Armageddon (Makoto)
- King and I (Makoto)
- Hack ‘n’ Blast (Junpei)
- Maximum Firepower (Aigis)
- Cyclone Arrow (Yukari)
- Blizzard Edge (Mitsuru)
- Lightning Spike (Akihiko)
- Electric Onslaught (Ahihiko)
- Hound of Hades (Koromaru)
- Divine Retribution (Ken)
A Tier
These are some of the best Theurgies in Persona 3 Reload that should certainly be in consistent use if any of these characters are in the party (Junpei and Mitsuru are the only optional party members listed here, though). Blaze of Life is really one of the only great things Junpei has going for him as a party member, and Blade of Execution is just another reason Mitsuru is perhaps the best party member in the game, doing high damage and lowering all of the enemy’s stats simultaneously. Fuuka’s Theurgy also always comes in clutch, particularly because it doesn’t use up a turn to cast.
- Scarlet Havoc (Makoto)
- Cadenza (Makoto)
- Blaze of Life (Junpei)
- Blade of Execution (Mitsuru)
- Oracle/Revelation (Fuuka)
S Tier
These are the Persona 3 Reload Theurgy moves that can truly change a battle in a second. Yukari and Koromaru’s Tranquility and Power Howling can absolutely shred through a boss’s health bar when used properly, and Ken’s Divine Intervention can save a party on the brink of destruction and give them the time necessary to set up more defenses and initiate a counterattack. Makoto’s Trickster ranks higher than Armaggedon despite doing less Almighty damage because it’s more easily accessible, has a high ailment chance, and doesn’t do any damage to the caster.
- Trickster (Makoto)
- Tranquility (Yukari)
- Power Howling (Koromaru)
- Divine Intervention (Ken)
