Atlus has announced the western release window for the upcoming Persona 5 The Royal. Fans can expect to play Persona 5 The Royal next year during the Spring season. The reveal took place after a panel at the Atlus Art Show where Shigenori Soejima wrapped things up with a brand new trailer making the announcement. The official release window trailer can be viewed below.
Persona 5 The Royal will have a split release date across the east and the west. Gamers in Asia will be able to pick up the game on October 31, 2019, before it launches here in the west. The reason for the gap in the release is likely to localize the title for a western audience and to make any necessary tweaks before it launches to a wider audience.
Persona 5 The Royal is an updated version of the fantastic original which launched back in 2017. The original Persona 5 released to a glowing reception for its wonderful style, jazz-infused soundtrack, and engaging gameplay. Now, with this new version, fans will be able to enjoy the story all over again with a myriad of added bonuses.
The additions that The Royal is making to the original is enough to argue this new package as a completely new game. Persona 5 The Royal adds a brand new playable character in Kasumi Yashizawa along with a couple of additional confidants like a human version of the titular cat Morgana to build a relationship with. The updated version also boasts many gameplay changes like new special team-up moves, new personas and a whole additional semester for players to stress over. For people who are jumping back in, or are looking to play Persona for the first time, it seems like there will be a lot to love for both parties.
