Red Dead Redemption, which marked the game industry and had significant sales success, is no longer playable on modern PlayStation consoles. This has horrified fans, but the truth is we are now at RDR’s grave. As known, the title was released in 2010 and set during the decline of the American frontier in the year 1911 and follows John Marston, a former outlaw whose wife and son are taken hostage by the government in ransom for his services as a hired gun. However, modern PlayStation owners will no longer be able to play RDR.
Red Dead Redemption No Longer Playable on Modern PlayStation Consoles
8 years after RDR’s release, Rockstar Games did a pretty cool job with fleshed out the backstory of John Marston and added new characters like Arthur Morgan. Red Dead Redemption 2 received positive feedback from players, but still, the first title must also be played for the whole story to be understood. Starting today, this has become even more difficult for modern PlayStation owners.
Red Dead Redemption was available on PS Now for years, however, it was recently removed from the service. The only current modern way to play Red Dead Redemption is now officially on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles and third-party emulators for PC (There is no PC version). Yes, you heard it right, new PlayStations no longer support the game. As we mentioned before, this thing only affects the modern PlayStations for now. If you have a dusty PS3 waiting in your closet, that’s fine.
Rockstar Games has not made any statement about whether Red Dead Redemption will return to PS4 and PS5 in the future. However, it doesn’t make much sense for the company to ignore a game with such a large fan base.
What do you think of RDR being removed from PS Now and not being playable on modern PlayStation consoles?
