This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

The Baby Fire Type Pokemon Magby can only be found if you play Shining Pearl (sorry Brilliant Diamond players), in the Pokemon Hideaway area at Volcanic Cave, Sandsear Cave, and Typhlo Cavern. But how can you evolve Magby into Magmar in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you asked? Continue reading below for the answer.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: Magby Evolution

Magmar

To evolve Magby into Magmar in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you need to level it up to level 30. However, you’ll need to trade the Magmar (while holding the Magmarizer item) with someone else if you want to acquire a Magmortar. Although most Magmar owners are just aiming for Magmortar since it’s considered to be one of the best Fire Pokemon, Magmar can actually hold its own with the proper setup. With the Vital Spirit Ability, it can put a wrench into enemies’ strategies that often rely on Sleep Powder, Sing, or Hypnosis. Magmar is definitely one hard counter for most Grass-type Pokemon. Read on below for more details about Magmar.
