Ponyta is a Fire-type Pokemon first introduced in Generation I in Pokemon Red. Ponyta evolves into Rapidash, which does not evolve into any other Pokemon. It is unlike many other Pokemon since Ponyta does not require evolution stones to evolve. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to evolve Ponyta in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
How to Evolve Ponyta in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
If you do not yet have Ponyta, you can find the Pokemon in the wild on several routes. The routes 206, 210, 211, 214 and 215 all have a chance at spawning Ponyta, with Route 211 having the rarest encounter chance. You will need to travel around these routes and search tall grass until you encounter Ponyta and catch it.
Ponyta must reach level 40 before it can evolve into Rapidash. There are no additional items or tasks you need to perform to evolve Ponyta. You also do not need to trade Ponyta with other players to evolve it. However, leveling up Ponyta to level 40 will require extensive grinding. You will need to frequently fight with Ponyta in wild Pokemon encounters without skipping them. You may also attempt to fight the Elite Four and the Champion again if you have already defeated them to gain a significant amount of EXP per battle.

Ponyta can also hold a Lucky Egg to speed up the leveling up. Lucky Eggs add increased EXP after battles, which will help you save time if your Ponyta is low level. If you do not have a Lucky Egg, you can encounter wild Chansey. Each wild Chansey has a chance of holding either a Lucky Egg or an Oval Stone, so it is worth trying to find one if you want to save time leveling Ponyta.
