As with every single Legendary Pokemon out there, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players definitely are looking to add the ghost-dragon Giratina to their roster. Giratina itself comes in two different flavors: Altered Forme and Origin Forme. If you already got Altered Forme Giratina and are now looking to turn it into Origin Forme, wonder no more! Read on below for the guide on how to get Origin Forme Giratina in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Where to Find Origin Forme Giratina
First, you have to find and catch Altered Forme Giratina. The Legendary Pokemon is located in Turnback Cave; for more details, head over to our guide on how to catch Giratina. Once all that has been done, you will need to get a hold of the Griseous Orb to turn Altered Forme Giratina into its Origin Forme.
To get Griseous Orb, you have to go to Ramanas Park on Route 221 and catch all thirteen of the available Legendary Pokemon. Yep, that means you will need to go underground and dig a bunch of Mysterious Shards and exchange them for Slates in order to meet and catch’em all. You will need three small or one big Mysterious Shard for each Slate, and at first, you’ll only be able to trade for Discovery Slates. Here is the list of all Legendary Pokemon you can find in Ramanas Park, so make sure to bring a proper party to fight them:
Slates | Legendary Pokemon | Game | Type | Weaknesses |
Kanto Slate | Moltres | Shining Pearl | Fire, Flying | Rock, Water, Electric |
Kanto Slate | Articuno | Shining Pearl | Ice, Flying | Rock, Ghost, Electric, Ice, Dark |
Kanto Slate | Zapdos | Shining Pearl | Electric, Flying | Rock, Ice |
Squall Slate | Lugia | Shining Pearl | Psychic, Flying | Rock, Ghost, Electric, Ice, Dark |
Johto Slate | Entei | Brilliant Diamond | Fire | Ground, Rock, Water |
Johto Slate | Suicune | Brilliant Diamond | Ice | Grass, Electric |
Johto Slate | Raikou | Brilliant Diamond | Electric | Ground |
Rainbow Slate | Ho-Oh | Brilliant Diamond | Fire, Flying | Rock, Water, Electric |
Tectonic Slate | Groudon | Both | Ground, Fire | Ground, Water |
Oceanic Slate | Kyogre | Both | Water | Grass, Electric |
Stratospheric Slate | Rayquaza | Both | Dragon, Flying | Rock, Ice, Dragon, Fairy |
Soul Slate | Latios | Both | Dragon, Psychic | Bug, Ghost, Ice, Dragon, Dark, Fairy |
Soul Slate | Latias | Both | Dragon, Psychic | Bug, Ghost, Ice, Dragon, Dark, Fairy |
Discovery Slate | Regirock | Both | Rock | Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, Grass |
Discovery Slate | Regice | Both | Ice | Fighting, Rock, Steel, Fire |
Discovery Slate | Registeel | Both | Steel | Fighting, Ground, Fire |
Genome Slate | Mewtwo | Both | Psychic | Bug, Ghost, Dark |
After catching Mewtwo, the Slate exchange counter will start offering Distortion Slate. Trade it and go to the eastern side of Ramana Park to the Distortion Room and put the Distortion Slate in the Enigmatic Pedestal. You will then summon a level 100 Giratina in its Origin Forme.
However, this time around, you cannot catch the Giratina (no double Giratina for your party). With that in mind, simply focus on knocking it out. Giratina Origin Forme has Ghost and Dragon dual-typing with a weakness to Ice, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, and Fairy. Meanwhile, Normal and Fighting-types have no effects on it — as well as Ground attacks no thanks to its Levitate ability. Having a strong Ice attack-capable Pokemon like Empoleon will definitely help with beating this Legendary Pokemon.
Once you’ve beaten the Origin Forme Giratina, it’s not over yet. The entire room and your control will be inverted with a Pokeball containing Griseous Orb will appear on the ceiling. Take it and give it to your Giratina to hold to transform into its Origin Forme. If you want to turn it back to Altered Forme, simply take the Griseous Orb back. And that’s how you can get Origin Forme Giratina in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
