Prince Harry’s life hasn’t been easy since he opted to leave the royal family with his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2020. The duo shocked the world when they announced that they were stepping down from their roles as working members of the monarchy. Since that time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have moved to the United States and Harry is said to be cut off from his old life. Sources claim that he has very little ties to his UK roots and that he is deeply dependent on Meghan. Meanwhile, concerns about his mental health are now growing.
Looking back, Prince Harry is allegedly wondering if it was a mistake for him and Meghan Markle to leave the UK. The couple’s deals with Netflix and Spotify were a bust, and their other business ventures haven’t been living up to their hopes. Sadly, returning to the UK may not be an option for King Charles’ youngest son. Since his departure, Harry feels that he’s been treated like an outcast by his own family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle May Not Be Thriving in California
“Things haven’t exactly panned out as they’d hoped. Harry wonders whether it was such a good idea to leave the U.K. and everything he knew to move to the States,” an insider dished, per OK! Magazine. “Harry may put on a stoic face, but it eats away at him that he’s being treated like a pariah when all he tried to do was protect his family.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s social standing has seemingly diminished as well. After hanging out with A-listers like Oprah Winfrey, he and Meghan Markle don’t seem to be as popular as they once were. Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, claims that Harry losing his connection to family and friends may be taking a toll on his mental health.
“Harry and Meghan’s circle is getting smaller and smaller. I think the A-list stars are dropping like flies,” Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell told an outlet. “Some already have done — Oprah no longer seems involved with them and some other celebrities have also dropped them.”
Prince Harry’s life is much different than it was before his marriage to Meghan Markle. He previously socialized often and seemingly had strong friendships. However, royal expert Phil Dampier says that’s no longer the case.
“I get the impression he hasn’t got a circle of drinking buddies he can unwind within Montecito, which has a population of older people, and I’m sure that takes its toll. He is dependent on Meghan for his social life, and for someone who was used to being one of the lads, as he was in the Army, that must affect his mental health,” he revealed.
Many fans can’t imagine Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moving back to the UK with their children. However, if the Duke of Sussex can make amends with the royal family, anything is possible.
