The next update for PUBG: Battlegrounds, including adjustments to the gunplay, has been released by Krafton. Strangely, Patch 20.1, compared to the last update, seems to bring about a lot more changes to the game. However, many of these updates are interfering with the mechanics and the meta rather than adding new material.
Players will experience several adjustments if they are used to firing weapons in a particular manner. Below are the team’s comments and a video introducing the update.

Firing From Vehicle
Using vehicles to fight enemies has great merits (and is a lot of fun). You can move much faster and find yourself able to hurl relatively stable shots at enemies running for their lives barefoot.
So we’ve received lots of feedback from players facing major disadvantages on foot, such as getting barraged by a horde of ammo from moving vehicles and ending up dying too fast.
Therefore, after many tests on in-vehicle recoil control and thoughts on how we could reduce these one-sided situations in a healthy direction, we’ve decided to balance vehicle gameplay as the following based on your feedback:
- DRIVER’S SEAT
- Reloading handguns will be instantly canceled if the driver controls the vehicle’s steering wheel.
- Therefore, players can reload handguns only when the vehicle moves in a single direction.
- Handgun reload duration in the vehicle has increased by approximately 50%.
- Handgun recoil has increased by approximately 20%.
- This recoil update only applies to PC.
- Reloading handguns will be instantly canceled if the driver controls the vehicle’s steering wheel.
- PASSENGER SEATS
- Weapon recoil increased by approximately 10%. (Total recoil: 10% → 20%)

World & Map Updates
- PUBG Global Championship 2022: To celebrate this year’s PUBG Global Championship (PGC), Esports objects such as flags, billboards, and building decorations will be scattered throughout Erangel, Taego, and Miramar! Be sure to tune into PGC 2022 starting on Nov. 1.
- Blue Zone: Due to players appearing to be eliminated from competition more often in the Blue Zone in Deston compared to other maps, the radius rate and start delay of the Blue Zone have been increased for the first phase. The second phase will see an increase in the radius, as well as the damage magnifier per distance. The Jammer Pack has also been adjusted for Miramar, Karakin, Haven, and Deston, increasing the damage done to the Jammer Pack by the Blue Zone.
The new update goes live on Oct. 11 for PC and 19 for consoles. Check out the game’s official page for more information regarding PUBG: Battlegrounds update 20.1 notes.
