It’s award season: the Golden Globes and Screen Actors’ Guild Awards already occurred, the Grammy Awards show happens later this week, and the nominees for the 2018 Academy Awards will be announced tomorrow. Today, a much less desirable set of nominations got handed out: the 2018 Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies.
The Razzies started as a counterpoint to the Academy Awards in 1981, “honoring” the worst in film with a few silly statuettes and a way to keep Hollywood laughing at itself. It has since ballooned into a full lampoon of the Academy Awards, with a mock red carpet event and some huge stars, like Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock, actually showing up in person to collect their awards.
Berry won her Razzie for Catwoman the year after winning an Oscar for Monster’s Ball, and Sandra Bullock won one for All About Steve before winning an Oscar for The Blind Side the very next night.
Transformers: The Last Knight leads the nominations this year, as it is up for nine Razzies. Fifty Shades Darker follows closely behind with nominations for eight Razzies. Check out the full list below.
