Politicians aren’t generally seen as honest individuals, regardless of which side they’re on. While many would like to believe elected officials would go out of their way to help people, one Texas man found out that isn’t the case. The situation he’s dealing with isn’t a minor one either; since February, he’s been receiving handfuls of letters by the hundreds. At first, he ignored them, thinking they were for the home’s previous tenants. It wasn’t until he started receiving dozens upon dozens that he realized his address was being used by someone committing health insurance fraud.

“We first reported our address to the proper channels February 12th. We have only received more since,” he sighs, posting photos of the outrageous number of health insurance envelopes on r/mildlyinfuriating. People in the comments encouraged him to continue reporting, but nothing seems to have worked so far. Someone mentioned sending them back to the sender, but as OP puts it, “This is from 150 different people,” making that endeavor a nightmare.

One commenter had a bright idea: “You should contact your state attorney general’s office to report possible large-scale healthcare fraud.” Considering OP is in Texas, he would be contacting Ken Paxton for this major health insurance fraud issue. “Forget investigating fraud, Ken commits fraud! 🤣,” he exclaimed. Other people responded in agreement, saying that the Republican AG does not have a good track record. “He’s a crook and all the people around him are, too,” remarks a user. Still, OP saw this suggestion as something worth taking a shot at and contacted the AG’s office.

It wasn’t too long before he updated his situation in the comments: “Reporting back – States Atty General Office didn’t care. They said they could take a complaint. No interest in investigation unless it was brought to them by the companies themselves.” Even the mail courier delivering him all the letters, USPS, simply told him to file a “false use of address” complaint, but that was all. Some people have recommended taking this story to the local news media, but it’s still infuriating that the people who should have done something did nothing for the Texan.
