Lords of the Fallen is a sprawling game containing numerous secrets, as well as hidden bosses and quests. Like other Soulslikes, some of the game’s mysteries are easier to unravel than others. One of the more obscure secrets in the game involves the “Seek Scouring” prompt found after defeating Harrower Dervla, the Pledge Knight as well as The Unbroken Promise in Revelation Depths. Completing this multi-step quest is easier said than done, but it’s essential if you want a unique ending and to unlock one of the secret classes. Here’s everything you need to know about the Seek Scouring solution to get the Umbral ending in Lords of the Fallen.
Follow the Erratic Journal Entry
Lords of the Fallen has multiple endings and completing them is the only way to unlock unique classes. The Umbral ending is the most difficult, requiring you to complete a long sequence of events. It’s far from obvious how to get started, but it actually involves the Seek Scouring prompt found after a difficult boss battle. Reaching that battle is the first step.
Explore Revelation Depths to Begin Seek Scourings
The quest’s beginning lies at the bottom of Revelation Depths, but even getting that far is a challenge. It can be accessed through the Calrath Cistern. Rather than take the elevator to the top, continue your journey toward the bottom of the Cistern, and you’ll eventually arrive at Revelation Depths. The area is shown on the Erratic Journal Entry, but like most maps in the game, it’s fragmented and vague. The most important thing is to continue downward.
Visit the Vestige
At the bottom of Revelation Depths, you’ll find the Vestige of Lost Berescu. Make sure to rest here, because there is a challenging, two-part boss battle ahead. It’s not as bad as the Pieta fight, but that doesn’t mean you should take it easy. When you’re ready, proceed past the Seedling planting ground and into the boss arena.
Defeat Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight and The Unbroken Promise
Within the arena, you’ll need to defeat two bosses back to back. Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight and the Unbroken Promise are by no means the toughest foes in the game, but they can still pose a challenge, especially if you come to the fight unprepared. Manage your healing items, mana, and ammunition carefully, and take advantage of ranged attacks when you can. Beating them puts you one step closer to the seek scourings solution and the Umbral ending of Lords of the Fallen.
Seek Scourings
Once you have defeated Dervla and the Unbroken Promise, climb the stairs opposite the boss arena’s entrance. At the top, you’ll find a bizarre well. When you interact with it, the well will offer the “Seek Scourings” prompt. Unfortunately, it gives you no other instructions or hints, so this is where many players get stuck. Though the Scourings reference alludes to Umbral Scourings, nothing will happen here even if you have dozens of them in your pocket. For now, return to the Vestige of Lost Berescu.
Visit Molhu
From the Vestige, fast travel to Skyrest Bridge. Use your Lamp to enter Umbra, and then head to Molhu’s room. If you’re facing the Vestige in Skyrest Bridge, you’ll find Molhu’s room to your left and up the stairs. The room will appear empty if you are in Axiom, so make sure to enter Umbra in order to find the Umbral merchant.
Buy the Umbral Scouring Clump and Complete Seek Scourings
Molhu sells a variety of useful items, including spells, rings, and Vigor skulls. One of these items is special, however: the Umbral Scouring Clump. To finish the “Seek Scouring” portion of this quest and begin to journey to the Umbral ending, you need to purchase this item and deliver it to the well you visited earlier in the boss chamber at the bottom of Revelation Depths. The bad news is the Umbral Scouring Clump costs 50 Umbral Scourings. If you don’t already have 50 Umbral Scourings, you’ll need to farm them.
Get Umbral Scourings and Buy the Scouring Clump
You can either get Scourings by triggering Stigmas with your Lamp or by killing certain unique creatures in Umbra. It’s not difficult to gather this resource in the mid and late-game. Unfortunately, you also spend Umbral Scourings when using Remembrances to purchase boss items from Molhu, so you may have spent a number of them already. As soon as you have 50, purchase the Umbral Scouring Clump and return to Revelation Depths to complete seek scourings and begin the quest for the Umbral ending in Lords of the Fallen.
Lords of the Fallen is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
