Shocking ICE Stop in North Carolina as Agents Lunge at U.S. Citizens Filming the Encounter: ‘This Does Not Look Like Freedom to Me’

That was just insane

Something that people do whenever they see ICE is that they start filming. It doesn’t matter if they were the ones being confronted by the agents or not. People are simply trying to document what is happening in the country. That was what two U.S. citizens did in North Carolina when they were stopped by ICE agents. There was an agent on either side of the car while the two men stayed inside. Both of the men had their phones out and were filming the encounter. That was when the agents demanded that they turn off the cameras. “You are not free to record,” one agent said. The men refused which was their right. That was when the same agent said that they were detained now. Immediately, the two men argued back that no one informed them that they were detained.

These two men stopped by ICE in North Carolina were U.S. citizens. When agents realized they were recording the encounter, they tried to stop the filming and then violently escalated the stop. Civil rights advocates say the stop is unconstitutional, violating the Fourth Amendment, which protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government.

Instead of letting them film, the North Carolina agent decided to escalate the situation. He lunged at the men and tried to grab one of the phones they were using. He then pulled on one of the men’s shirts before backing away. The man who was attacked managed to keep his phone with him as he informed the agents that this attack was recorded. “You are not allowed to do this,” he said. That was when the unhinged agent decided to open the car door before lunging at them again, trying to take the phone away. What was he planning to do once the cameras were off? “If you hurt us, we’ll post it online,” one of the men warned them.

The video then cuts to another agent grabbing one of the men’s clothes and trying to pull him outside. He then ordered him to put his hand in front of him. At this moment, another agent took advantage of this distraction and lunged again to steal the phone. The video ended there, but the men still managed to share it. According to NowThis Impact, “Civil rights advocates say the stop is unconstitutional, violating the Fourth Amendment, which protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government.” Hopefully, the two men are okay following this attack.

People Reacting to the Shocking ICE Stop in North Carolina

People were shocked after seeing the ICE stop in North Carolina. The fact that the agents didn’t want the men to film was upsetting to many. This is why one person wrote, “This does not look like freedom to me.” Another person tried to defend the agents as they said, “Refusing to cooperate with federal agents makes you look guilty as hell.” This made others reply and kind of drag them. “Not knowing your rights makes you look ignorant as hell,” was one of the replies. Another one read, “Government agents violating Americans’ constitutional rights makes America look fascist as hell.” Someone else wrote, “You don’t have to stop recording just because they said so. It’s not against the law. Take that boot out of your [expletive].”

Others believed that the North Carolina men should sue as one person wrote, “Easiest lawsuit on the planet.” Many agreed that this won’t happen as another person said, “as if laws are relevant in your country now.” Someone else agreed and wrote, “Are you joking? The president just kidnapped another president without congressional approval, and is involved in covering up the Epstein files and you’re talking about due process. Lord almighty were cooked.” One TikTok user then asked in disbelief, “Recording in public place and inside your private vehicle is not allowed!?!? But taking my phone forcefully, assaulting me and my buddy is?!” That’s a good point.
