Rebellion, best known for their Sniper Elite and Zombie Army franchised have released a reveal trailer for their latest IP, Strange Brigade. The video has the aesthetic of Saturday Matinee Serials which is fitting as the game takes place in the furthest reaches of a re-imagined 1930s British Empire. According to the press release:
“There are remote corners of the British Empire where the supernatural lurks and the shadows linger, where few dare go and fewer return. In STRANGE BRIGADE™ you’ll encounter fantastic and forgotten civilizations shrouded in mystery, uncover treacherous tombs and test your wits against unfathomable foes…
You’ll explore the ancient world as one of four dashing explorers, each blessed with their own weapons, tactics, and special superhuman powers…
You’ll fight back-to-back against a terrifying army of mythological menaces, unleashed by no less than a resurrected Egyptian witch queen! With such ungodly evil afoot, the STRANGE BRIGADE™ needs YOU!”
Strange Brigade looks to be a four player, third person shooter with a variety of mythical creatures as enemies. From a minotaur to an ancient Egyptian mummy to skeleton warriors, the quartet appears to have their hands full with unconventional enemies. The foursome appears to be made up of two men and two women. There is one male dressed in military red coat garb with the other dressed like he fell out of a Jules Verne story. One of the women looks to be dressed in tribal clothes and is wearing paint or is heavily tattooed. The second lady is dressed somewhat similarly to the woman on the famous WWII “We can do it” poster of Rosie the Rivetter.
Strange Brigade is expected to be released later this year on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Rebellion promises more news on the title at this year’s E3 conference running June 13 to 15, 2017.
