Allison Holker and her family have been through unimaginable pain since Stephen “tWitch” Boss died by suicide in 2022. Holker and Boss shared two children, a son, Maddox, and a daughter, Zaia, and he was the stepfather to her eldest child, Weslie Fowler.
Holker gave birth when she was young, and parenting a teenage child is not without its complications. Although a glimpse at her social media will show you the perfect family, the dancer has been honest with fans about her struggles. She and Weslie have created a podcast, This is Between Us, to explore their relationship. The first episode aired on Sunday, April 12, and has been an eye-opening look at their relationship!
Allison Holker And Her Daughter Weslie Share Update About Their Complicated Relationship
In the podcast, Holker revealed why she and Weslie wanted to speak about their bond.
“I really want people to see [on our podcast that] we have such a close bond, and I hope that they can see that it’s really genuine and authentic,” she said. “But, it hasn’t been easy for us, always.”
She continued, “There’s been a lot of rocks in our road that, like, we’ve beefed [and] we’ve also had fights. We’ve always worked through it and navigated it to the point where we have so much respect and understanding of each other that, I think, that’s why our relationship [is] as good as it is.”
The honest description about the highs and lows of motherhood and raising a teenager will be a welcome reminder to other moms that they are doing a great job and that the hard times don’t last. Holker reflected on the work she put into her relationship with her daughter and how getting to where they are now has taken “a lot of time and effort.”
But why make the details of their bond so public? There is an excellent reason for this! “I hope we can be an inspiration to other people and see and bring them into how we navigate it together,” Holker said.
Weslie also spoke about her mom and how their personalities are so different! But they have found that good communication is key. “We just talk things out. … I think we’re so different,” the teen said. “I don’t think we’re similar at all.”
Footage from the podcast was shared on the Between Us YouTube channel and fans have been quick to react. “Yess been waiting on this watching with breakfast,” a comment reads. “Congratulations ladies,” another shared. “Excited to hear your conversations instead of a online bully’s opinion of you. I admire you both for being strong through all the nastiness.”
The teaser for the podcast was also shared on Allison Holker’s Instagram account, and the comments have been mostly positive. Although doing anything in the public eye will open these two to criticism, it’s great to see how dedicated they are to creating a stronger, healthier relationship.
