If you weren’t aware, Sword of Convallaria combines the tactical greatness of games such as Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem into a memorable adventure full of fun stages to play and great characters to recruit. For the latter, Sword of Convallaria features over 60 units you can pull for through the gacha system, and we’ve decided to make a tier list for them. However, since there are so many of them, we’ll be focusing only on the Legendary ones since they are the best you can pull for in any of the game’s banners.
Rank | Defender | Breaker | Seeker | Destroyer | Watcher |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
S | Magnus | N/A | NonoWill Col | Beryl Dantalion | Gloria Inanna |
A | Maitha Alexei | Rawiyah | N/A | Momo Nungal | LilyWill Samantha Faycal |
B | Teadon Nergal | Leonide Iggy | N/A | Guzman | N/A |
C | N/A | Xavier | Garcia | N/A | Miguel |
The tier list above is the one we consider aligns with the game’s launch version. Below, we’ll review all five roles and explain why we placed each character in those specific ranks.
Defenders
Let’s start with the tanks on our tier list for Sword of Convallaria. This role is quite great, as the ones here are in charge of defending the frontlines. While we only have five characters in this role right now, most of them feel quite balanced, with a few standing above others.
For the S-Rank character, we have Magnus. He feels like a tank turned into DPS. His skills are great at keeping enemies at bay, but what we love about him is his cleaving potential. Most of his attacks can hit many tiles at a time, making them great at clearing the way for other characters to advance. Plus, his trait applies a debuff to enemies near him, which is a boon in any composition.
Our A-Ranks include Maitha and Alexei. The former is great, and you might’ve used her during the story already. She can heal at the end of the turn and even increase her speed to reach other places faster. She also has other buffs that can help your team in many situations. Alexei is another tank who feels like a DPS due to how his counterattacks work. On top of that, he has great life-stealing capabilities.
Lastly, our two B-Ranks include Teadon and Nergal. While not bad, Teadon feels like a toned-down version of Maitha with even less mobility, and Nergal, while boasting great abilities, never truly shines due to the lack of AoE skills.
Breakers
Oddly enough, the game’s beefy DPS role doesn’t shine as much, at least for now. While making our tier list, we noticed this is the weakest role in Sword of Convallaria, but that might change in the future.
Our only A-Rank is Rawiyah, who we all get to love throughout the story. She hits hard, moves fast, heals herself, and has amazing skills that let her charge, attack twice, and even do devastating AoE damage. She’s a bit squishy, so pair her with a good healer.
The B-Rank characters feature Leonide and Iggy. Leonide is great, but only due to his damage potential when charging and being able to become Alert thanks to some skills. However, he lacks the mobility of Rawiyah. Iggy is the most mobile Breaker in the game, but sadly not the best at doing damage, which is a bit ironic.
Xavier got the shortest end of the stick and landed as a C-Rank. We placed him here because he needs to be surrounded by enemies to truly shine. Without proper support, he’ll get overwhelmed before attacking. He’s not the greatest to be at the front.
Seekers
There are only three characters in this assassin-type role, and we have to say, they are the best looking in our Sword of Convallaria tier list. Well, at least two of them.
NonoWill and Col belong to the S-Rank characters, and with good reason. NonoWill can buff teammates and debuff enemies while jumping and dashing across the battlefield. He can hit more than once and escape in the blink of an eye. Col is the most mobile of the two and can recover HP, turn invisible, and strike hard, which is suitable for any assassin-like character. Of the two, Col is undoubtedly the best.
Sadly, Garcia falls down all the way to C-Rank. She doesn’t bring anything great to the table, at least compared to Col and NonoWill. Also, she doesn’t have as many escape skills or even invisibility abilities as her peers, thus making her the least desirable assassin.
Destroyers
Moving on to our mage-like characters, we also have a bit of balance in this role. Destroyers are the glass cannons of the game due to how hard they hit, but they are extremely fragile. The characters in this role are mostly versatile and fit perfectly in any team composition.
Beryl and Dantalion encompass the S-Ranks of the role. Beryl boasts the longest-ranged attacks to decimate foes and support skills that always come in handy. She’s the perfect magician-like character and a must-have if you are re-rolling. Dantalion is great, too, and might even be better due to the extra survivability skills he boasts.
Momo and Nungal are our A-Ranks, and with good reason. Momo is a fantastic single-target DPS and probably the best at it. Don’t count on her for strong AoE skills, though. Nungal is a great DPS, too, with her energy recovery being one of the most coveted functions in the game. I’d personally go for Nungal instead of Momo.
Guzman is our only B-Rank because he’s quite risky to use. His damage increases the lower HP he has. It isn’t a bad mechanic, but you have to learn how to use it properly. He makes up with strong AoE attacks, though, so it’s not bad to have in certain stages.
Watchers
Lastly, we have our mix of buffers and debuffers of Sword of Convallaria, which also bring some DPS on the side. Watchers are versatile characters due to skills that can help teammates and hinder foes. Some even combine damage with buffs, making them an excellent choice for most teams.
Gloria and Innana are our S-Ranks. Gloria is the best support in the game, who can buff characters at the start of a match and keep doing so throughout a fight. She can also hit hard with her skills. Inanna, on the other hand, is the ultimate healer. You’ll rarely see someone go down if you have Inanna around.
Our A-Ranks include Faycal, Samantha, and LilyWill. Faycal is your boss-killer combined with debuffer. He’s great at slowing down targets and even interrupting some of them. Samantha is a tremendous healer who lacks damage but makes up for that with great dispelling and healing effects. LilyWill might even be a better archer than Faycal due to her ability to bypass certain obstacles and her increased crit rate.
Miguel is the only C-Rank Watcher. While he can move around the battlefield with ease, he doesn’t bring many buffs or debuffs compared to his peers. If you have him, feel free to include him in your team, but only if you truly need him. Otherwise, it is better to bench him.
Since Sword of Convallaria is taking its first steps into the gacha world, we’ll update this tier list as new characters are released. In the meantime, feel free to keep this close because knowing which units are the best will make a huge difference when playing any of the combat stages in SoC.
