Tennessee Mom Stuns Son’s Teacher With One Simple Question About His Bad Behavior: ‘You Don’t Know How Nice It Is to Be Asked That’

Tennessee Mom Applauded For Arguing Parents Should Believe Teachers

A Tennessee mom is earning praise from teachers after delivering a message some parents may not want to hear: When a teacher says your child is causing problems at school, believe them. The mom explained that even her own son goes through phases of being the “perfect child” and the “problem child,” which is why she and her husband would rather work with his teachers than immediately assume their son did nothing wrong.

Chloe, who posts on TikTok as @giantcookielady, recalled a conversation she had with her son’s preschool teacher. She and her husband have always asked, “What can we do at home? What can we do to help you?” The woman asked his teacher what his problem areas are at school so they could work on them at home. However, she remembers that this shocked the teacher, who responded, “You don’t know how nice it is to be asked that.”

Additionally, she claims the teacher appreciated that they didn’t treat her like she was “accusing someone’s kid of being a criminal.” The Tennessee mom says this statement still surprises her. She argues that one thing she’s always going to do is “believe women even when it’s about [her] son.”

Chloe insists she knows her son can be smart and schemy when she isn’t there. For her, the teacher’s reaction put into perspective “how many parents are arguing with teachers about whether or not their kids are actually a problem.” Her advice for the new school year was straightforward: Listen to teachers and work with them when behavioral problems arise. Chloe argues that teachers are already exhausted with a full class, but when one child acts out, this drains energy and resources from the other children.

‘You Are the Best Kind of Parent’: Teachers Praise Tennessee Mom

Many teachers in the comments thank the Tennessee mom for supporting them. One says, “As a preschool teacher, you’re a rarity but my absolute favorite kind of parent.” One argues, “There is nothing I hate more than calling parents. So if I’m calling, believe me, I have already tried everything.”

Other teachers wish they could deal with more parents like her, such as one who says, “As an ex teacher wish I had more parents like you.” Another adds, “As a teacher, thank you so much! We love our job but have been burned so much by parents arguing that we were wrong.”

Chloe’s son is now starting kindergarten, meaning a new classroom and a new teacher will inevitably bring new challenges. But if that teacher ever has to make an uncomfortable phone call home, Chloe has already made one thing clear: Her first question won’t be how the teacher could accuse her son of misbehaving. It will be what she and her husband can do at home to help.
