If you were a Game Cube fan in the early 2000s, then you are almost certainly in for a treat. During this month’s Nintendo Direct, a bombshell of an announcement was made. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, one of the best Mario games of all time, is getting a complete remake. The project is being spearheaded by Nintendo’s own first-party development team, so rest assured knowing that it is in good hands.

Features Of The Paper Mario Remake

Not much is currently known about the title, as all we have to go off of is the trailer. However, we do know that it will be launching in 2024, the same year that the elusive Nintendo Switch 2 is rumored to launch. Overall, the Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door remake seems to be deeply faithful to the original game.

The remake maintains the classic art style of its predecessor, something that the under-powered Nintendo Switch will certainly benefit from. Furthermore, based on the trailer, the game appears to be keeping all of the classic story beats of the original. Even the iconic ‘Yoshi Stampede’ attack is making its triumphant return!

This marks the second remake of a major Mario game currently ongoing at Nintendo. After all, the highly anticipated Super Mario RPG remake will launch later this year.

If classic Mario games aren’t really your thing, fear not. The Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door remake was announced alongside tons of other awesome titles to look forward to. F-Zero 99, Princess Peach: Showtime, Prince of Persia – The Lost Crown, are just of few of the exciting announcements made at this month’s Nintendo Direct.
