Once you’ve completed the story and finished Starfield, you’ll probably wonder what’s next. Fortunately, the game provides many activities for those who’ve already completed the main campaign or are less interested in it. Next, we will talk about things to do after beating Starfield. Regardless of whether you have completed the game or not, hundreds of planets are still available for you to explore.
Starfield: What to Do After the End Game
The main story is not extensive, and the entire playthrough will take from 20 to 40 hours, depending on the difficulty. Thus, if you are focused only on the story, your playthrough may seem short, but it is not. The game has a lot of other fun and variety that you can do, and we’ve described a few options below. So, now let’s take a closer look at things you can do after beating Starfield.
Complete All Side Quests
In addition to the main story, you can also get numerous side quests that will keep you engaged. In general, we can divide the side quests into several categories:
- Companion quests
- Faction quests
- Mission Board
- Side quests
As you can see, you can choose any of them to diversify your gaming experience. For example, factions will take you from 20 to 30+ hours to complete, depending on the difficulty. There are 4 faction quest lines in the game, and they will keep you busy, along with providing access to a host of useful and exclusive rewards.
The same applies to the other categories described above. In general, it can take 50+ hours to complete them all, but this number also includes the search for quests and dialogues. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t have a mini-map, but there is a mission tracking system that makes completing quests not so difficult, as almost every step will be accompanied by a mission marker.
Exploring Planets and Star Systems
Another thing you can do after beating Starfield is the exploration of all the planets and star systems, which will entertain you for a long time. Given that there are over 100 star systems and 1,000 planets in the game, you can spend dozens of hours exploring each of them.
Each planet lives its own life; some of them have thriving cities, while others are empty without any signs of life. You will visit many of them during your quests, but others will remain unnoticed. On many of them, you will find many Easter eggs, NPCs, and resources that you have not seen before.
To explore them all, you’ll need to upgrade your ship, which can also take hours if you’re into that sort of thing. Searching for parts, building, customization — all this will be available in the game thanks to an advanced system head and shoulders above similar systems in other games. To accelerate the exploration process significantly, focus on upgrading your Grav Jump, which will help you travel through space even faster. Also, don’t forget about enemies, such as space pirates, who will want to rob you.
Mods and New Game Plus
If you don’t want to spend time exploring planets because you find it repetitive, you can try New Game Plus right after completing the main story. In this mode, you will start the story from scratch and lose all your resources, items, and weapons, having only your current level and the skills you have leveled up.
This way, you can play the game again and choose an entirely different character than in the first playthrough. If you were a kind pacifist, you could now become a bloodthirsty pirate who robs others and transports contraband.
New Game Plus will still give you some nice bonuses, namely the Refined Bridger shotgun, the new Starborn Guardian ship, and the Starborn Astra spacesuit with unique perks.
The Starborn Guardian is an incredibly powerful Class A ship that will outperform most starships that you had in the previous playthrough. In addition, it possesses good weapons called the Solar Flare Beam and Gravity Torpedo, which will leave no chance of survival for enemies.
Starborn Astra is a suit that will also serve you for quite a while after the start of NG+. In addition to its cool appearance, you will also receive the following perks:
- Technician: You take 15% less damage from robot enemies.
- Antiseptic: +25 Airborne resistance.
- Reactive: 10% chance to stun nearby enemies.

In addition, you will also receive the Refined Bridger weapon. It’s a unique shotgun grenade launcher that can deal 240 damage.
Another equally interesting experience can be the various fan mods that enthusiasts share. Considering how many mods have been created for previous Bethesda games, such as Skyrim or Fallout 4, we think this game will not be short of strange or exciting mods.
Now you know about some of the most exciting things you can do after beating Starfield, so gather your crew and plan accordingly.
Starfield is available now on Xbox Series S|X and PC.
