Getting started in a new place, adapting, and creating new friendships is hard. Of course, it’s even worse in a post-apocalyptic world full of mutants and griefers, such as in Once Human. If you want to survive more than a day in this area, there are certain items in Once Human that you should consider crafting first. Getting a super shotgun sounds ideal against enemies, but think first about your long-term survival and making your hideout more comfortable.

Players maintain basic human needs in Once Human, so eating, resting, and staying hydrated is paramount. At the start, players only have a couple of glasses of water, but as we explore, dirty and puddled water is the only source of hydration available. The Rainwater Collection System lets you get cleaner water more efficiently. At the same time, stoves will help you maintain an accessible supply of clean liquids if you’re willing to bring that dirty water back home.

This world has enemies with unique abilities and powerful bosses that you will have to face, and even the geography of the environments will be against you. So maintaining your HP is crucial to survive the Deviants. However, if one of them manages to deal a lot of damage to you, Adrenaline Shots will make you get up once again and have enough energy to run out of the battle to heal and prepare yourself better.

Tools

Your trusty pickaxe makes obtaining materials a mundane task, but as soon as you get the chance, try to unlock upgrades like Intermediate Tools, Smelting Essentials, or Forging Techniques. These memetics will make your tools stronger and last longer. Not only do pickaxes have upgrades, but also arrows or ammo. To defeat Deviants with upgraded weapons, you will need fewer bullets and do it in less time. Arm yourself with the best equipment before any expedition.

For all you home renovators out there, we’re talking about unlocking Windows, Doors, Roofs, and Storage. Crafting is crucial to everything in Once Human, and first of all, you will need to have your own facilities. The main reason to do this is to secure all the items and materials you find in the wild. Furthermore, an Independent Secure Unit is necessary if you want to have a varied collection of Deviants at your side. Keeping your stuff safe is essential, especially if you decide to stay in a PvP server or don’t want to lose everything you’ve done at the first enemy attack. Reinforce the security of your house and survive.

Garage

The developers included vehicles to facilitate transportation on a map as large as this game’s. However, you must protect your car from other players and the weather, so it is best to build a garage. Also, if you make a garage, once you upgrade it, it will allow you to repair and modify your cars. Always check the state of your vehicle; you don’t want to run out of battery or gas in the middle of a forest full of Deviants.

Be very careful in how you spend your memetics points and use them when you are sure of what you will craft first, as you can’t retrieve those points in Once Human. If you’re running out of Ciphers, visit the seasonal objectives on your journey, you’re bound to find a few.
