Shueisha announced Tuesday that Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter manga will return in October after a four-year hiatus. The manga will have been on hiatus for three years, eleven months, when it starts back up.

Along with this announcement, Viz Media also announced they will simulpub the new chapters in English. This will start on October 23rd and be available through Shonen Jump. However, it is important to note that in order to read, one must purchase a subscription from Viz. The platform has also added the previous chapter of the Hunter x Hunter manga to the magazine’s digital vault.
Shueisha also stated that there will be the manga’s 37th compiled book volume. Volume 37 will contain chapters 381-390 since they have not been published into a complied book volume just yet. The volume will ship on November 4th.
Hunter x Hunter: Togashi and is Health
Togashi had commented in May’s Weekly Shonen Jump that he had finished the rough drafts for 10 chapters (the normal amount for a volume). At the time, he had only had 6 drafts. This announcement was then followed by a health scare from Togashi on his Twitter account. The manga returned from another hiatus in September 2018 but soon went back in April 2018. Previously, it has been on hiatus many times due to Togashi’s health.
Yoshihiro Togashi launched the Hunter x Hunter manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998. Since the manga then inspired two anime series, two anime films, and several original video titles. The manga’s second anime adaptation premiered in 2011 and has a total of 148 episodes. Currently, the story is described as;
The story is focused on a young boy named Gon Freecss who discovers that his father, who left him at a young age, is actually a world-renowned Hunter. Gon departs on a journey to become a Hunter (a licensed professional who specializes in the pursuit of rare finds) and eventually finds his father. Along the way, Gon meets various other Hunters and encounters the paranormal.
Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter manga will return on October 24th, JST. Regularly, Togashi also shares updates about the manga from his Twitter account. Currently, the Hunter x Hunter anime is available on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix.
