The whirr of a Chainsword and crack of a Heavy Bolter are the swan songs carrying countless Tyranid to the grave. Capable of pulling their enemies apart with their bare hands, the Adeptus Astartes are war incarnate, but that’s nothing compared to what a Space Marine can do with a weapon. The brutal tools of 40k can scrap with anything found in the original franchise, even with Chaos behind them. Your playstyle plays a huge role in determining which weapons will work best for you, but these arms are easy to recommend. Here are the top 5 best weapons in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, in no particular order.

Heavy Bolter

The Heavy Bolter has a top-tier RoF and magazine capacity of 450. If you want to blanket the battlefield with lead and let Khorne sort the dead, the Heavy Bolter is a great option. With an abysmal Accuracy of 1, however, you might as well not be holding a weapon in long-range engagements. That said, if you want to mow through a field of Termagant, there’s no replacing the Heavy Bolter and its wall of bullets, making it a crowd-control favorite.

Las Fusil

This scoped laser rifle features a bottom-of-the-barrel RoF, featuring a single charged shot. If there’s a bright side, it’s that you’ll run out of your 12 available rounds slower that way. The pros? Everything else. With an Accuracy, Piercing, and Range of 10, the Las Fusil is a fantastic option for snipers. Even the dreaded Carnifex will take notice when drilled by a bolt of concentrated energy from the Las Fusil. If you’ve always dreamed of one-shotting giant bugs in a sci-fi epic, now’s your chance.

Thunder Hammer

There’s an argument for placing the Chainsword and other melee weapons among the best in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, but only the Thunder Hammer lets you roleplay Thor. On the opposite side of the crowd-control spectrum from the Combat Knife, the Thunder Hammer specializes in AoE damage. With power and cleaving potential, the Thunder Hammer is your best bet if you want to get stuck in against a crowd and can afford the slow swings. For high speed against single targets, consider the Combat Knife instead.

Melta Rifle

The almighty punch behind powerful weapons like the Melta Rifle is a huge part of what makes Space Marine 2 a rip-roaring GOTY contender. With high Power and even higher Piercing, you can rely on the Melta Rifle to cook through anything up to and including a tank. Armor plating? What armor plating?

If you turned a volcano into a shotgun you’d get Melta weaponry, more or less. They’re great when you can let your battle brothers take aggro while you unleash bursts of hellfire upon an unsuspecting Zoanthrope. It’s only good at one thing, but if you’re willing to get up close and personal with the most dangerous units in the game, the Melta Rifle won’t disappoint.

Bolt Sniper Rifle

The Bolt Sniper Rifle ranks among the best weapons in Space Marine 2 for several reasons. Though it deals a bit less damage than the Las Fusil, the Bolt Sniper Rifle has deeper ammo reserves. It also has a higher RoF, making it the more flexible option. Let your Melta and Heavy Bolter-wielding brothers clear the ranks. You’ll concentrate fire on specialist threats, blasting through the worst that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 can throw at you.
