The CEO of UFC, Dana White, made an odd comment in reaction to the shooting at the White House correspondents’ dinner in Washington, DC, on Saturday night, leaving the internet with strange reactions.
A video posted by Championshop Rounds on the social media platform X shows White smiling as he appears to be excited about the dangerous events occurring. Commenters took to the replies to share their opinions, with many condemning White’s choice of words.
The video above features Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White in reference to the shooting that had just taken place at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. He said, “It was [expletive] awesome. I literally took every minute of it in. It was a pretty crazy, unique experience.”
According to the rest of the video, White also admits to not taking cover when asked to during the active shooter situation. He alleges that armed men came into the room to look for the shooter, but hadn’t tackled anyone to the ground.
White has widely reported to be disinterested in politics, though he is a vocal friend a long-time supporter of Donald Trump, speaking at Republican National Conventions and even having campaigned for Trump in 2024.
Their friendship spans over 20 years, back to when Donald Trump supported the UFC by hosting events for the sport across his properties.
According to an interview concerning his politics, White said, “I’m probably not as far-right as everybody thinks I am. Everybody thinks I’m, like, far-right. I… literally up until the world lost its mind, considered myself to be liberal – I leaned, you know, a little left.“

Users took to the comments section under the video with anger primarily. Some commenters tried to make light of the situation, with one person writing, “Bro just soaking in an active shooter situation like it’s a spiritual experience, wtf😂😂“
Other commenters were far more upset, with one person writing, “I’ve been in the presence of an active shooter twice. Nothing about it was [expletive] awesome. That’s the goofiest response humanly possible.”
Currently, it’s been reported that no one was injured during the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. According to the FBI, a suspect who was likely a guest at the very same hotel has also been taken into custody in correlation to the events. Counts to be charged are reportedly using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon.
