A Virginia woman who doesn’t like insects had what she’s calling her “worst nightmare” experience. After receiving a Coke at her local McDonald’s, she noticed something was amiss. She dug through her drink, only to find something completely disgusting: a worm in her soda!
Mattie (@mattieandapple) was completely disturbed and disgusted by what she discovered in her McDonald’s Coke. Mattie isn’t a fan of bugs. She noticed something out of place floating in her soda. Using her straw, she looked through her soda – only to discover a dead worm inside it! This wasn’t just a tiny worm, either. She shows the worm to her audience, stirring her Coke as it floats to the bottom.
Mattie points to the soda, stating, “I don’t know if it’s more than one or if it’s just a really big one.” Her partner states on camera, “I think it might be in pieces.” Mattie said the whole experience left her wanting to throw up, especially because she has a huge “bug phobia.” She ends her video by asking her TikTok audience, “Am I going to get sick?”
After doing some research, Mattie commented on her own video stating that she discovered the worm is a “sludge worm.” She spoke with McDonald’s, who acted like it wasn’t a big deal. They told her that this has happened before and they “can get in the machine after it rains a lot” or if there’s a “sewage problem.” That seems like a huge issue and shouldn’t be happening.
Commenters shared disgust in response to Mattie’s video. Many pointed out that McDonald’s handling of the issue was unacceptable. As one commenter shared, “This is not a thing. This would be grounds for being shut down for good. You can’t just be serving soda with a chance of it having worms. That’s quite literally unbelievable.
