Warframe has been getting constant content updates for years now, breathing new life into the game, and bringing players back into the game. It has worked incredibly successfully, with concurrent player counts hitting 50,000 on Steam alone. Digital Extremes is ready to reveal their next content update today, that being The Deadlock Protocol update. It introduces a new frame, updates to existing content, and much more! To go with it all, the team released a trailer showing off everything you can expect.
The Deadlock Protocol’s biggest change is in the Corpus Ship remaster. Digital Extremes have redone the entire Corpus tileset, improving visuals and bringing it up to modern-day standards. That’s not all though, as the Corpus themselves have armed their ships better for your attacks. You can expect to see new and upgraded defenses which prove a higher challenge for your Tenno. The new tileset looks beautiful, offering much more freedom for your warframe to run around and wreak havoc.
Another big change comes in the form of the new warframe to run around in, known as Protea. This frame uses time-manipulation to tear apart her foes. She has four abilities like most frames. Grenade Fan throws a cluster of shrapnel bombs that can either hurt foes or heal allies. Blaze Artillery places a temporary turret that targets nearby enemies. Dispensary deploys a supply cache that can restock you and your allies for battle. Finally, there’s her ultimate, Temporal Anchor. This drops an anchor point that records your health state. Any damage taken with the ability active is deflected back on your foes on deactivation. When deactivated, your warframe returns to the previous point. She seems incredibly unique and will work great as a support frame.
This isn’t everything though. There’s a fair amount of other content being added and if that interests you, you can check out the patch notes here. This looks to be an excellent update for Warframe and will bring much-needed improvements to the Corpus ships. The Deadlock Protocol comes to PC later this week, with console versions coming later.
