The growing interest in what transpired on the set of the 2011 movie Arthur seems to have influenced Warner Bros. (WB). The studio recently announced its decision to release unseen footage from the film in Russell Brand‘s sexual assault lawsuit. An anonymous woman sued the actor and the company for the alleged trauma she endured during the project’s production.
The plaintiff, suing as Jane Doe, filed her accusations in 2023. She claimed Brand exposed his penis to her on set before sexually assaulting her in a bathroom. Warner Bros. and the Rock of Ages star both denied the claims, with the studio doubling down on its innocence. During a New York Supreme Court hearing last week, lawyers for WB offered to turn over outtakes from the movie.
The unseen footage contains about four to eight hours of video, per The Times. WB’s offer follows Brand’s vehement denial of the allegations against him. We covered the story, reporting he declared his innocence on X.
Russell Brand Responds to the Rape Allegations in Emotional Video

In his post, Brand filmed himself outdoors with a beach in the background. He began the video by thanking fans for their love and support before reflecting on the legal system. The entertainer implied he was “fortunate” that the allegations arrived when people understood that the law could be weaponized.
Brand got vulnerable with fans, emphasizing that he had never hidden the terrible man he was before growing up. “I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile. But what I never was was a rapist,” he declared, adding:
“I’ve never engaged in nonconsensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes. I wanna thank all of you for your continuing support.”
Brand added that he looked forward to his day in court, noting he would defend himself against false claims. The Arthur drama wasn’t the only case on the actor’s plate, with rape claims as far back as 1999 resurfacing.
Inside Russell Brand’s Rape Allegations

The Metropolitan Police confirmed Brand has five charges against him. The list includes one count of rape, oral rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. The rape incident allegedly occurred in Bournemouth in 1999, while the indecent assault happened in Westminster in 2001.
Another alleged incident was oral rape and sexual assault in Westminster in 2004. The list continued with a sexual assault incident in Westminster between 2004 and 2005. The different incidents involved four women, with the charges going viral after news outlets like Channel 4 covered the drama.
Brand is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2. However, that did not stop the allegations from impacting his career. In 2023, he faced significant setbacks, including his removal from Comedy Central’s Roast Battle. Additionally, he suffered criticism from his peers, with comedian Katherine Ryan labeling him a “sexual predator.”
