The open-world game always features markers on in-game maps to help you find and locate points of interest, including Sons of The Forest. There are a few types of markers in the game, and this guide will explain what Purple Markers are and what you should do once you get there in Sons of the Forest.

Sons of the Forest – What to do at Purple Markers, Explained

Markers always mark important things. In the case of purple markers, it marks items and weapons that will be useful for surviving the island. However, to be able to get them, you will need the Shovel to dig them out of the ground.

Meanwhile, the Shovel itself can be found inside a cave near the foot of the snowy mountain in the central part of the island. To make things worse, you have to get through a deep lake in the cave, so you can’t get the Shovel without getting a Rebreather first. Yeah, it’s a bit complicated, so for more details, read up all about it in our How to Find a Shovel guide.

In case you are wondering, below are the explanation for the other two marker colors:

  • Green markers: Places that contain items to progress the story or doors that require keycards to enter.
  • White markers: A cave location. Since most caves in the game usually contain important materials for crafting various items as well as tools that might be needed to progress through the game, Sons of the Forest marks those locations so we can easily find them.

Once you obtain the GPS Locator, you can also mark other places with various colors depending on your need.
