By now, we know that the people behind the Fallout franchise love to include real-life locations with a nuclear-powered twist. Out of all the games in this legendary series, the one that has the most beautiful location is undoubtedly Fallout 4. While it is a war-torn place full of Super Mutants, Ghouls, and other ungodly creatures, that doesn’t take away the beauty of this game. So, if you want to know where Fallout 4 takes place, allow us to give you a tour around the Commonwealth.
Fallout 4: Where Does the Sole Survivor’s Adventure Take Place?
In short, Fallout 4 takes place in Boston, Massachusetts. For those who’ve never been to this place, you might remember it from movies such as The Departed or Mystic River. If Fallout 4 is your first approach to this location, don’t worry; it still has many places you can find in real life, minus the radiation and mutated creatures, of course. While Boston is a huge area, the developers did their best to include some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as Bunker Hill, the Massachusetts State House, and neighbors like Charlestown.
Those looking to explore a bit more beyond Boston and its common areas can also find other iconic places, such as Salem. However, our favorite location in Fallout 4, where many key events of the game take place, is Diamond City. This post-apocalyptic settlement was built in the ruins of the famous Fenway Park. While this might not be prominent or relevant to people who haven’t visited Boston, trust us; the representation of this city in the game is beyond amazing.
Rare is the studio that manages to such a tremendous worldbuilding with real-life location and a sprinkle of fiction, but Bethesda always delivers. While it is uncertain where the franchise will take us later, the Great War of Fallout destroyed the whole world, so we could expect other contrasting locations in North America or beyond. Regardless, we can’t wait to leave the vault in a new city to explore more of this Wasteland.
