After your dangerous escapades in Toshara, Star Wars Outlaws will allow you to pick between three planets to visit. Here is where the main quest will branch, and while all options are great and shouldn’t deter you, some have better unlocks, while others make more sense for the story. If you’re unsure about which planet you should pick first in Star Wars Outlaws, I’ll tell you about the road I took when playing so you can decide if that’s what you want to do or just fly your Trailblazer somewhere else.
Three Planets, One Choice
Before I recommend which planet to pick first, Star Wars Outlaws won’t lock you from the others. You can land on one planet, take a look at it, and then move on to the next one without finishing the story there. It won’t make a lot of sense, speaking strictly about the plot, but the choice is yours, so go wild. Before I tell you which one you should pick, let’s go over each world and see what you get.
Kijimi
Kijimi is the frozen planet that features the original syndicate the developers made for Star Wars Outlaws. Contrary to Akiva, Toshara, or Tatooine, this one isn’t a big planet. Instead of traversing the frozen landscape on your speeder, you’re stuck in the main city, which isn’t as small as one may think. This and Canto Bight are the only planets that don’t allow true “open-world” gameplay in the sense of an extensive landscape to roam. However, there are many things to do and see here. If you’re looking for gameplay opportunities only, Kijimi will unlock the Power Blaster Module, which you can use to destroy rocks on other planets. You can also start working on your Ashiga reputation if you want.
Tatooine
Tatooine is one of the game’s most-known planets and my personal favorite. Easter eggs aside, there are plenty here; by the way, there are exciting upgrades for Kay here. You can unlock the ability to use heavy weapons and the expert that enhances your Adrenaline skills. Both are perfect if you prefer a “louder” approach to combat. In terms of the story, there are many key moments here, and you can even start working on your Hutt Cartel reputation, which I think has the best rewards. Also, this is an open-world area, so you can roam around Mos Eisley and then ride all the way toward the Dune Sea.
Akiva
Akiva is undoubtedly the most beautiful planet in Star Wars Outlaws, and I wouldn’t blame you if you were picked first. Besides its beauty, you get most of the game’s best upgrades here. You can make your speeder cross water by following the main quest and get the Electro-shock Rod that lets you stun elite enemies or the fusioncutter that opens up other areas on different planets. Also, there is one great cameo of a particular Star Wars character here, so it is worth visiting.
Best Choice for Story and Gameplay Purposes
In my case, I actually went in the above order. I landed on Kijimi first, moved on to Tatooine, and saved Akiva for last. Without knowing, this is the order that makes the most sense for the story. There is one particular mission in Akiva that has a lot of emotional impact, and you might not enjoy it much unless you spend time on other planets with a specific character. However, if you prefer to unlock some of the game’s most useful upgrades, go to Akiva first. Tatooine and Kijimi can be done in any order.
Ultimately, the choice is yours, and as I mentioned, one planet won’t lock you from the other. You can even begin one planet’s main quest, pause it for a while, and move on to the other; it’s up to you. Still, I’d recommend leaving Akiva for the last, at least in its main story, because it is much more enjoyable.
