Microsoft has also joined the growing number of publishers that have decided to increase the price of their games. It has now been confirmed by Microsoft that from now on, every game built for Xbox Series X will cost $70 starting next year, raising the prices by $10 like everyone else.

This means that most of the biggest upcoming games coming out next year, like Starfield, Forza Motorsport, and Redfall, will all cost $70 at launch. This also means that all the games that we’ve heard rumors about or gotten teasers for without real concrete confirmation will be a bit more expensive whenever they show up. This includes games like Fable, The Outer Worlds 2, and the Elder Scrolls VI,ย which have not gotten any specific prices at the time of writing.

Xbox Raising Games Prices to $70

A spokesperson from Microsoft said to IGN that the price increase depends on the “content, scale, and technical complexity” of the title in question. The company has reassured fans that all of the upcoming exclusives will be on Game Pass, which will probably make it a must-have if you want to play any of the games mentioned above.

Despite the prices going up, Xbox fans can rest assured knowing that the games they purchase at the higher price are premium-quality titles with top-notch production values. Xbox does have a great lineup of games coming next year, so we hope that the price increase won’t put too much of a strain on our wallets. Whether these games will carry the quality fans expect remains to be seen with each game.

It’s unfortunate news for the Xbox fanbase, but it’s the reality of the industry. Prices for video games have been on the rise for a few years now, and now Xbox is joining in on the movement. This price increase means that fans may have to budget a bit more for their gaming purchases, but they can at least be reassured that the money is going to quality games. Hopefully, with the addition of Xbox Game Pass and its day-one releases, fans can still get the titles they love without breaking the bank.
