It was all laughs and brain rot with Burnice’s catchy song. The nonsensical lyrics turned viral enough to earn hour-long remixes or other voice actors doing their own takes, like Hu Tao or Boothill. This is despite receiving misleading comments for the apparently excessive fan service of the pyromaniac Burnice. However, after several similar trailers, HoYoverse took a turn in the artistic direction for Zenless Zone Zero. A day before her release date in ZZZ, Yanagi got a character teaser in which she tells her complicated story before being in Section 6, and it’s heartbreaking.
In Yanagi’s previous demo, we only saw her as a workaholic who is always full of tasks and in charge of controlling all her coworkers, besides being Soukaku’s first caretaker. But in the latest Character Teaser of ZZZ, we see that Yanagi is much more. Yanagi is a kind of SWAT-like special agent who finds herself in a war with the Oni, whose leader is very weakened.
Beyond wanting to eradicate all the Oni, Yanagi and her team seek peace, even showing how she tries to protect little Soukaku. Therefore, the leader and Yanagi end up trusting each other, but the only solution to the conflict is to mix both sides. This is how Yanagi became a human with Oni blood to keep the peace and grant protection to the Oni, including taking Soukaku with her. This explains the particularly close hug between Soukaku and Yanagi in her previous video, which also had some fan service complaints.
Tomorrow is the release date for Yanagi, who arrives together with Anby and Billy in ZZZ. Yanagi is ideal for teaming up with Agents with Attribute Electric, Anomaly, and even with Caesar King. So this is your chance to cause a big shock with this new Agent.
