Even though Smalland: Survive the Wilds is a game about small people, it’s still a survival game. Therefore, you need to find different resources to craft new tools, armor, and weapons. Some resources, such as Insect Wings, can be obtained by killing enemies. And some need to be mined, such as Iron Shards, which can be found in different locations.

So, to get Iron Shards in Smalland: Survive the Wilds, you must find scrap metal. Players can find this resource near the Black Hornet boss. But it is worth noting that you will need at least a Flint Pickaxe to mine Iron Shards. Luckily, it can be crafted fairly easily with 5 Refined Wood, 5 Fiber, 5 Resin, 10 Flint, and 5 Fiber. And once you’ve crafted the Pickaxe, head northwest to the Black Hornet boss.

Cockroaches live in this location. These are peaceful insects who do not care about you, so you should not worry. However, if you want to fight them, they will attack you all and most likely kill you. Therefore, you must be careful when mining Iron Shards and not hit cockroaches accidentally.
