Want to know what item power breakpoints are in Diablo 4? While most statistics of your item are visible, Breakpoints are hidden stats that you cannot see in Diablo 4. You’ll need to upgrade your items to easily face the enemies at higher World Tiers in the game. Luckily, Diablo 4 has many options to customize your gear, and item level is one of them. We’ll break down how the Item Power Breakpoints work and all the unknown details.
Diablo 4 Item Level Breakpoints Explained
Item level Breakpoints are hidden stats that can buff the stats of your weapons up to a specific tier, depending on the power level. Once you reach higher tier breakpoints, all stats gain significant buffs depending on the power level you jump. For example, when you upgrade an item with 400 power, that item gains 10 power and enhanced buffs. However, since the next breakpoint level is at 460, if you upgrade an item with 450 power and give it 10 power, it will gain greater buffs in Diablo 4.
You can upgrade your items and give them more powerful stats with the Blacksmith mechanics in the game. This upgrade adds item power to your item and increases its level. Upgrading will also slightly buff your gear’s stats. However, reaching a Breakpoint will allow you to get more than the buff provided by a regular upgrade. When you reach higher-level Breakpoints, you gain stronger buffs.
All Item Power Breakpoint Levels in Diablo 4
- Level 1: 1 – 149
- Level 2: 150 – 339
- Level 3: 340 – 459
- Level 4: 460 – 624
- Level 5: 625 – 724
- Level 6: 725+
The range of your Item Power is determined when you get that item. A low-level item you get in the early game can have 160 Item Power, while an item in the end game can be 650 and above. Upgrading an item with a high Item Power to the next breakpoint tier will be always easier in Diablo 4. When you complete the Nightmare difficulty, you will be able to get items that you can upgrade to 725+, the highest Breakpoint.
Your Item Power gains 5 points with each upgrade. Items can be upgraded multiple times and this depends on their rarity. Rare items (yellow colored) can be upgraded 3 times, meaning you can get extra 15 Item Power. However, Legendary items can be upgraded 5 times, making them the most upgradeable item. Since you can upgrade Legendaries 5 times, they gain a maximum of +25 item power.
