President Donald Trump seems ready to step on as many toes as possible in his second chance in the Oval Office. The POTUS administration recently sparked backlash for removing an explicit ban on segregated facilities. The U.S. General Services Administration announced the new policy in a public memo issued last month.

The ban on segregated facilities like waiting rooms, restaurants, and drinking fountains for federal contractors was adopted in 1965. The policy was implemented to ensure equal employment opportunities and environmental actions that protect communities of color. In simple terms, the ban aimed to end discriminatory practices in hiring and employment of U.S. government contractors.

However, Trump’s February 15 memo rolled back 60 years of efforts to end discrimination. Since his return to office, the politician has taken multiple steps to change longstanding systems in the government. His actions aimed at dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in the federal government and private sector, per Reuters.

The memo stated that “when issuing new solicitations or contracts,” civil agencies should no longer include the provision and clause about the “Prohibition of Segregated Facilities.” The statement made many feel like Trump’s administration was reversing the clock on racial segregation.

However, the POTUS and his supporters denied this narrative. They stressed that their actions were aimed at ending the alleged discrimination against other Americans, including white people and men. Despite their arguments, critics like Civil rights attorney Ben Crump saw the new policy as a dangerous move. On Instagram he noted:

“While segregation is still illegal, this change sends a CLEAR message.”

His post generated similar responses from his followers and concerned citizens, who bashed Trump, his administration, and his supporters. “Somebody said he’s moving like a pissed off baby mama…” a critic wrote. Another labeled Trump a “demon child,” while a third claimed he was attacking everyone and everything that never supported him. “We are dealing with an old man in a child’s mind that y’all let run the country,” the critic penned. Someone stated they weren’t surprised since the POTUS “refused to rent to blacks.”

Days before the segregation ban was lifted, We covered Trump’s reaction to his administration’s firing spree. He doubled down on the employment cut being the best decision for the country while speaking to reporters on March 12. “I feel very badly … but many of them don’t work at all. Many of them never showed up to work,” he argued.

Trump stressed that only those who weren’t responsible or insufficient at their jobs were released. He claimed they were only “keeping the best people” and suggested the situation stemmed from the previous administration. The politician claimed the country was “run very badly,” and he was cutting out the “fat,” “waste,” “fraud,” and “abuse.”

Trump’s firing spree affected various sectors, including the Education Department. He applauded Linda McMahon, the United States Secretary of Education, for removing incompetent people from their posts. According to the president, his administration’s dream involved allowing state-run education instead of the “bureaucrats working in Washington.”

Does President Donald Trump’s actions spell trouble for America, as many believe?
