With the tragic death of Verne Troyer occurring just a few weeks ago, many are still reflecting on his life and career. Not surprisingly, most of the talk revolves around his role as Mini-Me in the beloved Austin Powers trilogy.
At the premiereย for the dramatic thriller Terminal, starring Margot Robbie, Austin Powers’ creator and star Mike Myers spoke with Reuters Newslook about Verne Troyer’s passing.
“It is very very hard to know that I am not going to see him, more than anything,” Myers said. “He made something that, on paper, isn’t very much and he made it much better than written.”
The comedian went on to compliment his late co-star, stating that not only was he a fantastic comedian, but that anytime they would give him more to do, he would knock it out of the part. Myers even recanted how that when he had the honor of going to a dinner a the white house to represent Canada, both President Obama and Canadian Prime Ministerย Justin Trudeau asked him “How is Mini-Me.”
Talk about another Austin Powers movie has been dredged up yet again after it was revealed another Myer’s led franchise would be getting a sequel in the form of Bill and Ted 3.
“I would love to,” Myers said about another film in the series.ย “I love doing all the characters and it’s a non-stop party when we’re shooting. It’s fun.”
While fans would certainly love to see another installment, it certainly won’t be the same without Verne Troyer present. Especially when you consider the talk that Myers wants to make the entire film from the perspective of Dr. Evil. Only time will tell as to if the film is a possibility.
