NINE-NINE!!! NBC has just picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for its sixth season. This concludes the roller-coaster of a ride that has been the past 48 hours.
On May 10th, Fox decided to cancel the hit comedy series after five seasons. Fans quickly turned to Twitter to applaud the show on its run and bash on the network for canceling it. #Brooklyn99 and #SaveB99 actually became two of the most popular trends on the social media platform for a short period of time.

This praise might have helped save the series. Networks like TBS, NBC, Netflix, and Hulu contacted Nine-Nineโs production company, Universal Television, about the possibility of picking up the show.
On May 11th, Netflix decided to pass and TBS was sure to follow so that left Nine-Nine with either A: Hulu (Brooklyn Nine-Nine is currently one of the most popular shows on the streaming service) or B: NBC (This network has canceled critically acclaimed hit shows like Chuck and Community so this felt more unlikely at the time).
Fans thought that Hulu was the perfect place for the show to live on. Again, the series is already one of the most popular programs on the service and Hulu has done this before with The Mindy Project (Which was a former Fox series that was canceled after three seasons). In a stunning move, Hulu passed on Nine-Nine.

Late that night, one of the showโs executive producers Dan Goor announced on Twitter that NBC had picked up Nine-Nine for a sixth season.
Although at first glance this should alarm you due to NBCโs erratic behavior when it comes to these cult-comedies, this is the perfect place for Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Michael Schur, who is also an executive producer of the series, has worked on NBC hits like The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Good Place. The seriesโ lead star, Andy Samberg, was one of the stars on NBCโs Saturday Night Live for seven seasons until his departure in 2012.
