Many people feel anxious about crossing busy roads alone, especially when traffic moves quickly, and there are few safety measures in place. In Houston, Texas, one particularly dangerous stretch of road has become known for being difficult to cross safely.
That’s where a kind-hearted man stepped in. A TikToker named Marco came across him and shared his story, even calling him the “nicest person in Houston.”
The man, whose name is Metro, spends his evenings helping strangers cross the road safely. After finishing his regular job each day, he heads to the intersection and stands there at night, offering assistance to anyone who needs help getting across.
The most remarkable part is that he does it entirely for free, simply because he wants people to get home safely.
This heartwarming story from Texas only gets better. Metro has reportedly been helping people cross the road since last October, and it’s hard to even estimate how many lives he has touched during that time.
Marco later shared another video in which Metro thanked everyone who had shown him kindness and support online. He also explained the reason behind his dedication. In the past, Metro had been hit by a car five times. Because of those experiences and his awareness of how dangerous that intersection is, he felt motivated to step in and help others stay safe.
It didn’t take long for people to fall in love with Metro and what he was doing for strangers. Inspired by his selflessness, Marco started a GoFundMe to support him. Metro is currently saving for a car so he can have reliable transportation. He also shares an apartment with his sister, who is still in college, and he has been covering the rent on his own to help support her.
So far, generous supporters have raised $3,568 toward the $20,000 goal. For Metro, this support could be truly life-changing.
