Racist California Couple Harasses Latino Family Over Number of People Living in Their Home: ‘This Is Disgusting’

Racism is never okay

Reports of racist incidents have been rising in recent times, and another example has emerged from California. In this case, a couple began harassing a Latino family over how many people they believed were living in the home. The situation began when a member of the family was washing his car while two vehicles were parked outside the house. Rather than approaching the situation politely, the couple escalated the encounter with racist remarks.

Footage from the confrontation shows the man from the couple arguing with members of the Latino family while repeatedly insulting them. At one point, despite continuing the confrontation, he told the family to call the police. Members of the family later claimed the man said he was a former sheriff, something that may help explain why he appeared unconcerned about law enforcement being contacted. According to the family, when they initially tried to report the incident, the Bakersfield Police Department declined to take a report.

As the exchange continued, the argument shifted from the parked cars to broader accusations. The man repeatedly claimed the family could not afford their home. One family member responded that “the street is free,” likely referring to the fact that public street parking is legal. The confrontation escalated further when the man told them, “You are why neighborhoods are ruined.” The woman accompanying him also joined in, turning the discussion toward the number of people she believed were living in the house and asking, “You guys have more families here?”

Moments later, the man again insisted the family could not afford their home. The woman then questioned whether a child present was actually related to the family, a remark that further intensified the dispute. Throughout the exchange, members of the family repeatedly asked the couple to leave their property. Before stepping away, the man photographed one of the vehicles’ license plates and continued shouting insults, at one point calling a family member a “piece of [expletive].”

Even after the man returned to his vehicle, the confrontation did not immediately end. The woman remained outside while the man pointed toward a flag displayed on the family’s property. In response, she began shouting, “America USA!” A family member replied angrily, “I am American, you [expletive].” While the man eventually drove back toward their home across the street, the woman stayed behind and continued arguing, repeating her claim that “you guys have way too many people living here.”

The dispute then shifted again when the woman brought up construction work the family was reportedly doing behind the house. She questioned whether the project was up to code and whether they had permits. She followed that up by asking, “Do you have a permit for all the people who are living here?” Eventually, after her partner called her back, she began returning to their house, though the man continued shouting insults across the street, again claiming the family could not afford their home.

In a separate video shared later, a woman from the Latino family said the situation with police only changed after the video of the incident began circulating. According to her account, the man later contacted police claiming he felt threatened because the footage had been posted online. That call reportedly prompted officers to respond to the scene.

When police arrived, the woman recording the video confronted them about the earlier response, saying, “Finally, you guys show up. We call multiple times, and you guys say you have, you are understaffed, and you guys can’t make a report.” The officer replied that she wanted to gather a statement and acknowledged she had already seen parts of the video, adding that she was aware no crime had been committed by the Latino family. The woman then invited the officers inside to continue the conversation, and the footage ended there.

The incident has since circulated widely online, where viewers have debated both the confrontation itself and the police response. As with many viral neighborhood disputes, the videos capture only part of the broader situation, but they have raised questions about how similar conflicts are handled once they escalate beyond a simple disagreement.

People Reacting to the Racist California Couple Harassing the Latino Family

People were left quite upset by how racist the California couple was being. This is why many expressed their outrage. “This is disgusting. I’m so sorry this happened to u guys,” one person wrote. Another person said, “It absolutely breaks my heart to see the way people treat each other these days‼” This made someone else blame Trump and write, “exactly and its because our president made people COMFORTABLE TO SHOW THEIR RACISM AND ACT THIS WAY….” One TikTok user also added, “They always were like that Dt just gave them permission. Lets remember them when this is over.”

People started giving advice as well, and one person wrote, “Any law enforcement officer can do a report, and if they did not do one after seeing this video, then you need to file a law suit, get an attorney! Continue to record them if they return, and continue to call 911. Do not allow them to race-bait you because that’s what most racist people do; they want to get a reaction out of you. It doesn’t matter if it’s your grandmother’s house. They don’t have the right to harass you in a home that you live in. Do not explain anything to them because you don’t have to tell them anything. Also, when you call the police, tell them that you want them to criminally trespass on your home. If need be, get a TPO because they are very aggressive.” That’s good advice.
