A man in Tacoma, Washington, is accustomed to traveling a lot for work. His neighbors, though? Not so much. They grew so worried about him not being at his house that they even called the police to request a welfare check. As a result, the man has regarded them as the “sweetest” neighbors ever, and so has the internet.
The man in question goes by the username bfog253 (bfog), and he is a streamer. According to him, he often travels for work, and this didn’t go unnoticed by his neighbors. As shown in the clip, his neighbor and her cousin stopped by his house to check on him.
“Hi, it’s your neighbor and my cousin,” the Washington woman said, as shown in the Ring camera footage. “We’re just coming to check. I haven’t seen your trash can moved. Just checking to make sure you’re okay. Bye!“
The wholesome moment was quickly overshadowed by what followed next. Just 17 minutes later, an officer with the Edgewood Police Department knocked on bfog’s door. It turns out that the neighbors had requested a welfare check on him, fearing something might have happened to him.
The policeman knocked on the Washington man’s door and waited for a response, to no avail. Then, he checked inside bfog253’s vehicle. The officer was about to walk off when bfog finally answered. He revealed he was in Pittsburgh, around 2,500 miles away, and he had stayed there for the past five weeks.
“Oh, your neighbor said they haven’t seen you for a while and were worried,” the officer said. “I’m glad you answered, so now I’m not worried. […] I’ll let them know.”
‘Sweetest’ Neighbor Goes Viral
Bfog, as seen in the clip, was touched by the gesture, calling his neighbors “super nice.” He even labeled them the “sweetest neighbors ever” thanks to their worrying about him.
Users seemed to agree with the Washington streamer, as his clip went viral. More than 1.8 million people saw it, and thousands commented on their appreciation for the lovely neighbor. Even the neighbor herself commented, saying, “Hi. I’m the neighbor. Glad to know you’re alive.”
“I just know they debated on this for days,” one user said. Another commented, “Don’t leave for work without telling them again.” A third netizen added, “I had a neighbor do this once for me. I cried for 3 days straight.”
Most likely, bfog will let his neighbors know when he is out traveling for work again. Otherwise, welfare checks are to be expected!
