Two male drivers in Omaha, Nebraska, stole a friend’s car while he was reportedly asleep and, after driving it through a residential neighborhood, crashed it. Shortly afterward, the two realized that there was a dashcam inside the vehicle that had just recorded their every move, and they tried taking it down.
Commenters were quick to question the incident, with one person even saying, “What kinda friends do that[?].”
According to a video posted to the social media platform TikTok by user @mr.unknownocho, two men had stolen their friend’s Challenger Hellcat while he was asleep. The text posted onto the video says, “POV” your friends thought it was a good idea to drive your car while you were asleep and crashed it.”
As the driver can be seen speeding through what appears to be a residential area, the passenger can be seen smoking what looks to be a cigar. Then, the driver crashes into a parked vehicle and quickly drives away from the scene. In response to this, one commenter replied with, “First, I’m suing for damages, second, I’m filing a police report that the car was stolen and pressing charges.”
After assessing the damage to the vehicle, the two started to panic, realizing that there was a dashcam that had just recorded everything. However, it looks as though the driver tried to remove it, as he can be seen reaching over and fidgeting with it for a short while.
Nebraska Men Steal a ‘Friends’ Car and Crash it Before Attempting to Hide Evidence
An update was made by the original poster, who clarified details, explaining that the man who was driving the car is now in prison and his car has been impounded by detectives. The driver was reportedly trying to drift across corners before accidentally hitting the parked car. He also explains that the two men allegedly tried to lie to him about what had actually transpired, saying that the car had been stolen and returned.
One commenter replied to the video with, “Nahhhh we no longer friends with the driver.” However, in the update, it is mentioned that he isn’t friends with that person anymore, especially because he’s now been imprisoned. It isn’t clear if he was arrested for this crime or a different one.
Unfortunately, the original poster does reveal that the damages to his vehicle have to come out of his pocket. However, no one appears to have been injured as a result of the events.
