E3 2018
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information.

We are in the third day of our E3 2018 coverage so I thought now would be a good time to take some inventory on what weโ€™ve seen thus far at the event. Here are the top 10 best reveals from EA, Microsoft, and Bethesda at E3 2018:

  1. Starfield

Starfield โ€“ Official Announcement Teaser

This is a title that has been rumored to be announced for a long time. The only game I think has been coveted as much as this is…well, Iโ€™ll get to that later. My point being this, Starfield is Bethesdaโ€™s next big RPG. Although it doesnโ€™t have a release date yet, this was one of the best reveals of the expo so far.

  1. Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 - E3 2018 Gameplay World Premiere

I still canโ€™t believe that Techland is already making a sequel to 2015โ€™s Dying Light. Not because the original was bad or that it didnโ€™t deserve a sequel but it still has a popular, and consistent, fan base. Not only that but Dying Light has made some remarkable content updates to keep their fan base playing over the last few years since its initial release.

Regardless, Dying Light 2 looks to improve on the original in almost every way. Choices that impact the world around you is a fantastic idea and the gameplay is more polished. This is a game to watch for over the next year.

  1. Anthem

Anthem Official Cinematic Trailer (2018)

While not technically a reveal, Anthem was by far the highlight of the EA conference. We received a cinematic trailer along with some gameplay that gave us a closer look at the four classes to choose from.

Also, Anthem will not have any โ€œpay-to-winโ€ strategies, including loot-boxes. So why is this so low on my list? Well, because of two reasons. First, I just donโ€™t trust EA or Bioware to deliver on the promises theyโ€™ve made. Second, in all of the gameplay weโ€™ve seen so far, it doesnโ€™t seem as much of an open-world as we thought when it was actually revealed last year. Even with those two issues, Anthem still managed to garner enough hype to be at the eighth spot on this list.

  1. Rage 2

This was one of the most fun reveals Iโ€™ve watched in a while. Party legend Andrew W.K. started off the Bethesda conference and the Rage 2 reveal with an epic performance. It wasnโ€™t anything deep or meaningful, it was just stupid fun. That is the best way to describe Rage 2.

Creative weaponry and an interesting world set this game apart from other FPS out there. I for one canโ€™t wait until Rage 2 hits shelves in Spring 2019.

  1. Gears 5

Gear 5 is the next installment of the main Gears of War franchise. The reason I say “the main franchise” is due to the announcements of Gears Tactics and Gears Pops. The first being a Halo Wars style strategy title and the latter as a mobile game with Funko Pop designs.

Back to Gears 5. Seemingly revolving around a dark story regarding Kait and her heritage, this looks to be one of the best Gears of War games to date. Iโ€™m also glad that Coalition decided to revamp some of the characters, mainly J.D. Fenix. At least he doesnโ€™t look like a discount Nathan Drake anymore. He may look a little too much like Kratos now though.

  1. Halo Infinite

There isnโ€™t much to say here. This is Halo 6. We only got a brief cinematic trailer for Halo Infinite but Halo will always be a big reveal as long as Microsoft continues to put out quality installments in the franchise.ย

4.ย Tom Clancyโ€™s The Division 2

In the new setting of Washington D.C., Tom Clancyโ€™s The Division 2 gives you the small task to take back the nationโ€™s capital. Just like Dying Light 2, The Division 2 is more polished and the gameplay is vastly improved from the original. The D.C. landscape looks to be a refreshing change of pace from the snowy streets of Manhattan as well.

  1. Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red is probably the most respected development studio out there today. The Witcher 3 is a masterpiece quality title and many fans are predicting that Projekt Redโ€™s next game, Cyberpunk 2077, will follow suit.

The trailer shown at the end of Microsoftโ€™s E3 2018 conference did nothing but affirm belief in that prediction.

  1. Fallout 76

I have to be honest with you, I didnโ€™t think Fallout 76 would impress me. Coming off fantastic installments with Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4 kind of missed the mark in terms of overall quality.

I couldnโ€™t be more wrong about Fallout 76. This is the Fallout multiplayer game I never knew I wanted and the best thing is, I only have to wait a few months to play it (November 14th, 2018 is the official release date). Dedicated servers, fun multiplayer that may or may not include nukes, and the ability to play solo or co-op make Fallout 76 a must have this holiday season.

  1. Elder Scrolls 6

Like the number one spot was going to be anything else. This has been the most anticipated game for years. There wasnโ€™t even anything to really talk about here. It was just a short teaser to announce to the world that Elder Scrolls 6 actually exists. Hereโ€™s the thing though. That is all Bethesda needed to do.

Do you agree with my list? What were your top ten reveals for E3 2018 so far? We still have conferences from Square Enix, Ubisoft, Sony, and Nintendo for E3 2018 so be sure to stay tuned to The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
