A grief-stricken mother in Franklin, New Jersey, recently shared her toddler daughter’s autopsy results. Despite not showing any signs of illness, according to her, she found her girl’s cause of death confusing.
The mother is Stephanie Rodriguez, who shared the results on her TikTok account, _stephsworld. Her content revolves around her grieving journey following the sudden death of Stacy Gomez, her 17-month-old daughter, who passed away in January 2026. In this instance, she read the girl’s autopsy results, garnering 823,200 views, 51,200 likes, and 1,600 comments.
While crying and admitting this was a hard clip to record, the New Jersey mother explained what happened with Stacy before her death. According to her, her child was “not showing any signs” of a serious illness at the time. She, however, had a fever three weeks before her death.
At the hospital, Stephanie said that she and her husband were told Stacy had a fever and an “upper respiratory infection.” They were prescribed medication and, shortly after, the girl started to feel better, and the fever was gone. Days later, they returned for a follow-up appointment with the doctors, and they said Stacy was doing fine and “wasn’t sick anymore.”
Then, tragedy struck, and Stacy suddenly passed away.
Months later, the New Jersey mother got the results of Stacy’s autopsy. She read them in front of the camera, and her daughter’s cause of death was listed as “respiratory influenza infection.”
“I’m just, like, confused,” Stephanie said. “My baby was not showing any signs that she was sick or that anything was wrong with her, leading up to her passing away.”
