A woman in Minnesota has gone viral online after she posted a video venting about a “disrespectful” encounter she said she had with a Somali girl at a gas station. The clip was first shared on her TikTok account, where it received tens of thousands of views before spreading to other social media platforms.

According to the TikToker, she had gone to a QuickTrip gas station and was standing in the checkout line when an individual, whom she identified as Somali, walked past the dozens of other customers waiting and went straight to a cashier. The woman said she immediately told the cashier not to attend to that customer and confronted her about what she had done. However, she claimed the other woman simply “didn’t care” and continued “being disrespectful to everybody.”

The TikToker alleged that the other customer had behaved that way because of her “hatred towards white people” and refusal to assimilate. “I’m so sick of these Somalians,” she said in the video. “A lot of these Somalians do not like white girls. And I think that it’s because we can show our hair.” The woman also claimed she had gone to school with Somali students and that they never wanted to associate with white female classmates.

Netizens’ Reactions to the Minnesota Woman’s Rant

Netizens in the woman’s comments have been divided by the remarks she made in the video, with some seeming to share her frustration and others condemning it as racist. Some people who agreed with her said they had witnessed similar situations themselves, with one person writing, “They don’t wait in lines. I’ve seen it myself. It is aggravated 😒.” Another added, “It’s literally one of the worst parts of living in Minnesota!”

However, many others accused the TikTok creator of making broad and racist generalizations based on a single interaction. “Oh please white Americans do the same thing,” one viewer responded. Another asked, “If a white person cut you in line would you make a video about it and blame all white people?” A third said, “Yall use every excuse to be racist let’s be serious.”

One netizen who identified themselves as Somali also pushed back on the woman’s comments about appearance and cultural differences. “We have long, soft hair and take pride in it.. there’s nothing to be jealous of… I initially wanted to apologize on her behalf, but your response came across just as disrespectful,” the comment read.

Another person shared their own experience living in Minnesota, arguing that prejudice exists in multiple directions. “I moved to Minnesota and racism works both ways here. You can’t generalize one person. My kids have friends from all different backgrounds. There’s a lot of bullying here,” they wrote.

As of now, the woman has not responded to the backlash she is receiving for her comments in the video.
