Back in June, it was revealed that Keiynan Lonsdale would be leaving the Arrowverse. Lonsdale, who plays the role of Wally West AKA Kid Flash, has been apart of the CW universe since The Flash season two.
Although Lonsdale is leaving the role of Wally West behind (for now), that doesn’t mean that the writers of The Flash won’t send him off with a bang. Series showrunner Todd Helbing discussed Wally’s role in The Flash season five with Newsarama:
“You will see Wally in the first episode. He is in three episodes this season. We don’t have as much time with Kid Flash as I think everyone would like to see, but the story we have for him is really cool.”
This won’t be the first time Wally West leaves The Flash. In the show’s fourth season, Wally unceremoniously left Central City after being dumped by Jesse Quick. He later appeared and starred Legends of Tomorrow season three. Luckily, it seems that the series will handle Kid Flash’s departure much better this time around.
Helbing also discussed how Ralph Dibny (Hartley Sawyer) would evolve in the upcoming season:
“Ralph is going to be doing a lot more detecting this year than he did last season, and I think the description of Elongated Man was that he has the detective skills that rivals Batman’s. So we want to get him on his journey in that regard this season.”
Hartley Sawyer, Danielle Nicolet, and Jessica Parker Kennedy have all been upgraded to series regulars for the show’s fifth season.
The Flash season five will premiere October 9th on the CW network.
