‘You Are The Best Kind Of Parent’: Tennessee Mom Applauded After Arguing Parents Should Believe Teachers About Children’s Behavior

Many applaud a Tennessee mom after she argues parents should believe teachers when they complain about children’s behavior. The video has over 47,000 views and nearly 10,000 likes since it was posted. She states that her son has phases of “being the perfect child and being the problem child.”

The Tennessee mom recalls a conversation she had with her child’s preschool teacher. She and her husband have always asked, “What can we do at home? What can we do to help you?” The woman asked his teacher what his problem areas are at school so they could work on them at home. However, she remembers that this shocked the teacher, who responded, “You don’t know how nice it is to be asked that.”

Additionally, she claims the teacher appreciated that they didn’t treat her like she was “accusing someone’s kid of being a criminal.” The Tennessee mom says this statement still surprises her. She argues that one thing she’s always going to do is “believe women even when it’s about [her] son.” The woman insists she knows her son can be smart and schemy when she isn’t there. But this puts in perspective for her “how many parents are arguing with teachers about whether or not their kids are actually a problem.” She says if there’s any advice she can give this year, it is to believe teachers and work with them. The woman argues that teachers are already exhausted with a full class, but when one child acts out, this drains energy and resources from the other children.

Teachers Thank Tennessee Mom

Many teachers in the comments thank the Tennessee mom for supporting them. One says, “As a preschool teacher, you’re a rarity but my absolute favorite kind of parent.” Another agrees, “You are the best kind of parent.” Meanwhile, other teachers insist they don’t call parents just to call. One argues, “There is nothing I hate more than calling parents. So if I’m calling, believe me, I have already tried everything.”

Meanwhile, several agree there should be consequences for bad behavior. One commenter points out, “Kids need to have consequences for their actions and not having mom & dad kicking up a ruckus.” Other teachers wish they could deal with more parents like her, such as one who says, “As an ex teacher wish I had more parents like you.” Another adds, “As a teacher, thank you so much! We love our job but have been burned so much by parents arguing that we were wrong.”

The Tennessee mom just started a new school year with her son, who is now in Kindergarten.
