California Woman Brags She Stole $500,000 From Target and Still Loves Shopping There: ‘Ladies and Gentlemen: White Privilege’

The most devoted shoplifter

A California woman told the Internet exactly how much she has stolen from Target, and somehow that’s not even the strangest part of her video. What she says next about walking into a different Target, one she is technically still allowed in, is what’s really bizarre.

The woman, who posts under the TikTok handle @sxarrrollls, says she is currently banned from every Target location in Los Angeles County, California, and is serving overlapping probation sentences tied to two separate theft cases at the retailer.

In the video, she claims her total haul from a single Target location adds up to roughly $500,000 stolen over three years, and says her restitution on the more recent case is somewhere around $200,000. She admits she isn’t sure whether she actually owes it.

She explains the bans stack on top of each other – one year for the earlier case, another year tacked on for the newer one – meaning she is looking at roughly two years total before she can legally set foot in an LA County Target again. None of these figures have been independently verified, and the video represents her own account of her legal situation.

The bulk of the video, though, isn’t about the theft itself. It’s about what happened afterward. She says she recently visited a Target outside LA County, where she isn’t banned, and was overcome with nerves the moment she spotted a loss prevention employee near the entrance.

She describes years of run-ins with Target’s loss prevention staff, saying “they all *expletive* hate me, for good reason,” before pivoting into a genuinely enthusiastic description of just being back inside a Target: smelling the store, feeling excited, and reassuring herself she is allowed to be there. She caps it off saying, “I love it. I love it. I love Target, even though they *expletive* hate me so much, I love it, and I will always love it.”

Internet Reacts to California Woman’s Target Theft Confession

The clip racked up reactions, with plenty of commenters fixating on the racial and social dynamics of someone openly bragging about theft with no apparent fear of consequences.

One commenter summed it up bluntly: “Ladies and gentlemen: white privilege.” Another zeroed in on the recklessness of the confession itself, writing, “Bragging about theft and filming while driving at high speed is wild,” while a third argued more broadly that “California is too soft on criminals.”

Other viewers did the math out loud. One pointed out that her claimed haul works out to “an average of $13,000 a month in theft over 3 years,” and asked how that’s even logistically possible. A few reactions were pure secondhand embarrassment, as one person admitted, “I feel bad using the bathroom at Starbucks without purchase. Damn.”

Others couldn’t get past the decision to post it: “Why would you post this???” and “Couldn’t have waterboarded this out of me on here. What the heck.”

California’s shoplifting laws have been a flashpoint for years, largely because of Proposition 47, which raised the threshold for felony theft charges to $950 in stolen merchandise per incident.

Retail theft broken into many smaller transactions, as this video describes, can complicate how prosecutors pursue charges, which is part of why stories like this one tend to spark heated debate over accountability and enforcement in California specifically.
