A Washington DC airport employee was called “creepy” after he allegedly offered free flights to underage girls while also giving them his Snapchat.
One of the underage girls’ parents shared a post online describing what the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) employee allegedly did. They said they had dropped off their 15-year-old daughter and a friend at the Metro station. Their daughter later texted them, saying that she and her friend had asked an “old man” whether they were on the correct platform.
The man allegedly told the girls that they were “pretty” and instructed them to email him if they wanted a free flight. According to the parent, he then handed the girls his business card, which identified him as an employee at DCA. About two minutes later, the airport employee allegedly returned and gave the underage girls a second card containing his Snapchat information. As evidence, the parent shared a photo of the business card with the employee’s personal information covered, while the portion showing the handwritten Snapchat account remained visible.
In the post, the parent asked internet users whether they should report the employee. They also questioned whether he could claim “plausible deniability” regarding the girls’ ages. “I guess my daughter and her friend could pass for 18 but that’s a stretch,” they wrote. They then added, “I doubt National Airport wants this guy offering free flights to pick up anyone.”
At the end of the post, the parent wrote, “This is the first time I’ve let my child ride the metro without an adult and this creep pops up.” In a later update, they said they had contacted WMATA police and were told that an officer would call them to discuss the situation.
They later contacted the Reagan Airport non-emergency police line as well. “The guy I spoke to suggested I wait to see what wmata says first since it’s their jurisdiction, and to use the complaint form on the customer service page. I guess I will file a complaint and see where that goes,” they said.
In the parent’s final update, they said they had spoken with an officer at WMATA and that a detective with MWAA had also contacted them after seeing the post. “They were both really great and are taking this matter seriously,” they added. It remains unclear what will happen next or whether the employee will face any consequences.
