A woman said she recently had her first experience with a Karen in a grocery store parking lot in Texas. She claimed the other woman subjected her and her child to a frustrating standoff after pulling directly in front of her car and refusing to move.
The mom, who goes by @lilly.ana7 on TikTok, shared a video of the encounter online, and viewers were similarly unimpressed with the other driver’s behavior.
According to the mom, she had just finished loading her groceries into her vehicle and was preparing to leave when the other driver pulled up in a gray Nissan SUV and stopped in front of her. She waited for the other driver to move so she could be on her way, but that never happened.
Instead, the other driver reportedly just sat inside her car. She never went into the store or came out of the vehicle to speak to the mom.
This left the mom frustrated. “She don’t wanna move. She’s just there, not letting me pass. And I’m just here waiting,” she said while filming the other vehicle through her windshield. She added that there was plenty of room elsewhere in the parking lot, and it baffled her that the other driver had chosen to pull in front of her anyway.
The video doesn’t make it entirely clear whether the woman’s car was completely boxed in or whether she could have reversed and gotten around the SUV. Until the end of the clip, both vehicles remained in place.
Viewers React to the Texas Parking Lot Standoff
In the comments under the TikTok post, netizens largely sided with the mom and offered some rather entertaining ideas about how she could respond in that type of situation.
One viewer recommended that she buy a trumpet-style air horn, promising it would be the “best $30 you’ll ever spend.” Another suggested, “Honk once. If she still sits there, get out and say it to her face: ‘You’re blocking me.’”
Someone else said, “I’d get out and lock the door, and walk away.” Another also shared a similar idea, “I would go walk around the store match vibes girlie.”
One person who said they had dealt with this type of standoff before shared their own method for ending it. “I’ve had this happen a few times. I just take my keys out, hold them up, give them a little shake, then drop them in my lap and stare. Works every time.”
A few others also criticized the other driver, with one comment reading, “People are inconsiderate but then get offended when you give the same Karen energy back.”
As of this writing, the woman has not shared any additional information about what happened after the video. It remains unclear how long the standoff went on or how it eventually ended.
