A Georgia couple allegedly encountered racist treatment from Waffle House staff while they were trying to get breakfast before going to work. The restaurant in question is located at 4670 Bill Gardner Parkway in Locust Grove. They said that they were ignored by the staff and didn’t get served.
The story was shared and uploaded to the woman’s TikTok account, out_it_out. It got several hundred thousand views, with some users siding with the couple, while others sided with the servers.
The Georgia couple remarked that the waiter just didn’t come to them despite them waiting for five minutes. Things got suspicious when other people arriving after them got served before them. This action led the woman to start recording.
During this, another couple arrived and sat down at another table not far from them. The Georgia couple then pointed out how the staff returned to serve the lady next to their table but not them. It was at that point that they decided that it was better if they left the restaurant and found somewhere else to eat.
It’s important to note that this is just a one-sided report from the Georgia couple. There could be valid reasons as to why the couple weren’t served yet, and Waffle House has also yet to release a statement regarding the incident.
Georgia Couple Divides Viewers Over Waffle House Incident
The comment section was a bit of a mixed bag. Some commenters sided with the Georgia couple. “If they seen them, they seen you! So sorry this happened to you. This happened to my children and I at a Cracker Barrel. It’s so hurtful,” one user wrote.
Others, however, said that the couple was being unreasonable. One person pointed out that it was possible that the server they had issues with could not have been covering their tables. Another user remarked that the couple could’ve raised their hands and asked someone to serve them instead of silently throwing a tantrum. “Just speak up. A simple, excuse me, do you know who’s serving this table?” another commenter said.
A handful of comments were rather rude, with some claiming the waitresses didn’t want to serve the Georgia couple because they allegedly knew the couple wouldn’t tip them. This seemed to be based on a stereotype that Black people didn’t tip at all, which was a harmful and untrue belief.
Regardless, the Georgia couple still had their breakfast ruined, and for now, the incident at this Waffle House perhaps would remain unresolved, at least until the corporate office said something about it.
