A FedEx worker was caught on a New York resident’s porch security camera preparing for his NBA tryout, where he gracefully hurled a package reportedly 25 feet across a driveway. While there have been many a report online of delivery mailmen tossing around packages and boxes at recipients’ homes, this was no ordinary parcel. According to Reddit user SecondHandLabs, this was their new $1,000 phone being thrown around.

Posting to r/mildlyinfuriating, SecondHandLabs explained that this incident was not recent but something that happened back on Oct. 22, 2018. “I was at work waiting for a package to arrive. It was Google’s latest phone, the Pixel 3 XL with a price tag of $1000. I was super excited to try out its new features,” they recalled with glee. After receiving a notification that their package arrived, they quickly checked their doorbell cam to see if it was the phone.

“My excitement quickly turned to horror as I watched the FedEx guy fling my package (with surprising accuracy, mind you) and it landed on my porch,” OP wrote. Naturally, anyone having their new $1,000 electronics carelessly thrown around would be more than just ‘mildly infuriated,’ but SecondHandLabs explained why they weren’t more upset.

The Phone Was Surprisingly Undamaged

“Shout out to Google for their great packaging,” they wrote, adding that the phone was actually “absolutely fine” and lasted three years before they upgraded. In the comment section, a truck driver for FedEx confessed that this was probably not the only time a package like the expensive phone was thrown around without care.

“I can assure you that all your shit gets thrown into a trailer possibly multiple times, thrown onto a conveyor belt multiple times, thrown into the back of a delivery truck, and then it gets thrown on your porch,” the driver confirmed. Needless to say, hundreds were appalled. “I hate to say it, but maybe it’s for the better that robots take certain jobs away from people,” remarked a user in response.

As to whether SecondHandLabs reported the FedEx driver, they claimed they sent over the footage along with the report. “They guessed who the driver was, and was told he was dealt with,” OP concluded. Though some commenters found the post questionable. “Why are you posting a video from 8 years ago telling us you potentially got a man fired from his job when your product was fine?” asked a Redditor, to which OP did not respond.
