Meal deliveries are convenient but come at the risk of being stolen, which is exactly what happened to one California resident’s Vietnamese cuisine order. Reddit user JonBoy82 shared a video on r/mildlyinfuriating, hoping other Redditors could help him identify the plates of a drive-by porch thief. The individual in question drove up to the house allegedly two minutes after the delivery arrived, and took the food before running off. Needless to say, Reddit had some choice words for this woman, along with criticism of her physique.
“Do they follow the DoorDash drivers? How did she know? Trash behavior,” a commenter questioned, suspiciously. “Wouldn’t be surprised if she camps out at her favorite restaurants and waits for the Dashers there,” remarked another. “She really doesn’t need the meal. Yes, I’m fat-shaming. I’m also thief-shaming. I don’t feel bad about it,” wrote a third. “I’m not one to judge, but she don’t look like she needs extra food,” added a fourth.
Plenty of others joined in, insulting the woman for her weight, appearance, and scoundrel behavior of stealing someone else’s meal. On the flip side, there were a handful of people who criticized OP’s wife for not accepting the delivery in person when it was dropped off. Some people assumed it was for her safety, as a woman who doesn’t want to answer the door for strangers.
Many urged JonBoy82 to call the police or start a social media group to hunt the woman down or warn others in the neighborhood. He chimed in in the comments, claiming he’s had to deal with porch pirates in the past, but this is the first time his food has been stolen. As to why neither of them left the delivery for two minutes, JonBoy82 says he was in a meeting, and his wife was apparently occupied. “We usually are pouncing on food deliveries,” he remarked.
In the end, no one was able to identify the number on the woman’s license plate. Unfortunately for OP, the moderators of r/mildlyinfuriating removed the post and locked it, likely due to the video and JonBoy82’s demand violating a rule.
